Owned both, if you want one watch for the rest of your life, I would say go with a modern Rolex with a solid bracelet, the older ones will stretch on you in time. Just get a newish Sub, that will stand you well (suit or shorts), easy to cash out of if you ever need the money and will always be a Sub.

If you don't want to pay grey market prices, get a Speedmaster as long as you will be only winding it every day like other anon stated. I always think 2 watches is the perfect number, so you always have 1 when the other is getting serviced.
I'm an Omega fan boy and I would go with the Speedmaster. Pick a used one up for £4000ish, your talking £10000 for a sub. The Ex2 will be worth more than the speedy if that is important to you in 30 years but you could through the differents into an index if you were really worried about that. I had the white ex2 buy the black dial is much nicer.

The OP's were popular because they were the cheapest Rolex and okay looking (unlike the air king)

The hype from the Sports models somehow went into the colour OP's, which are made for the masses and so was the 39mm OP's.

I never saw a guy with an Explorer and thought, that was all he could afford. You see Explorers in fairly high end collections but you son't see OP's in top their collections. Maybe colour dial OP but those collections are like Rolex only guys, not watch guys as we know it.

The Explorer cost more than an OP, only watch guys would pay the difference to have a Sports model. Normal people would just get the OP.

Yes and no

If you need to go, Chrono is fine but the sellers are another matter. I would not be buying from China for a start you're asking for problems. I would just buy for a local dealer that is well trusted and pay market price.

Its one thing buying Omegas online another thing all together when buying Rolex

What I'm saying is true with all hollow link Rolexs, it does make them feel cheap in hand. They are nice watches but subpower vs modern Omegas / Rolex. The 36mm Explorer is better scaled than the 39mm but in all honestly nearth are brilliant for the money, one let down by its dated construction and the other bloated, maybe before when they were cheap they were a good buy for a first rolex but that ship has sailed.

Going to be honest with you here, you have to start your own business, you will never be rich working for someone else. Unless your in the top teir of jobs doc / law, you'll be well off in those jobs ofcourse but not an option for most.

Yea okay, go for it, I think as of now its a better buy than the 36mm, 36mm is underwhelming and especially for a sports watch, could deal with it when it was half the price of the 39mm but not now. I do miss the gloss dial on the of the 36 vs the matte of the 39 but the build quality differents is night and day.

I would just put your name down at your ad, wait it out but if you can't or are a 1 watch guy fair enough.

Just a word of warning the explorer / 2 is due an update in the next year or two, new movement and they will probably thin the lugs and case down a bit like they did with the datejust and sub. Good luck getting it when that happens, so it is probably a good time to buy, idk if I would sell my gold bullion? You meant to keep that bro, just saying.

Nah i wouldn't, I don't think the 36mm explorer is worth the money, it use to be at £3000-4000k now they are pushing 6k. I would just buy a moden Rolex. Dealer going to rip you a new on on that Seamaster. Your call.....

I'm over the older Rolex braclets and out of love with milguass. Trade up to the new sub, same for the older seamaster to the new one, want a travel watch on rubber.

I have a stowa fliger, nomos club and laco which I use as beaters around the house.

Keep what you have, that is a good core collection even if it is 3 black dial sports watches, add other brands, JLC, Zenith, vintage, 18k gold dress watch or whatever interests you.

Or sell all and get a 10-12k watch, like a sub bluesy BUT if your as broke as you say you are idk if watches are were you should put your money.

If I were you, sell the Rolexs, keep the speedy and wear the shit out of it. Use the money from the sales to start a business and try and make it, if you don't you have the speedy and at least you took your shot.

Being broke with 2 Rolexs is in bad taste, i spent 3 years with a CW while I started up. You should have 4x your collections value in the bank liquid.

Does he not know its a 36mm explorer 14270 or 114270 (my bet) or did he just recommend you to get a 1016 in 2020?

If your going to one and done, I'd get the explorer 114270. Dont't get the op39, you want a sports model.

Superocean and black bay are nice but I'd take the speedy over them and I think they are better in a collection.

Drivers are heavy for every day, a nice simple no date sports rolex would be perfect.

I like the AT, don't get a GS as your first watch maybe 5 or 6, they are to thick for there styling, I think most people recommending GS hasn't saw them in person (I've been to GS main Ginza store) the AT can be hard to read in some lighting situations due to the small amount of lume. Go see it in store, I like the black dial 38mm, The new seamaster is probably better buying, if you like it.

Railmasters fake lume is a showstopper, AT is the better watch.

I think a 80-90s Louis Cartier Tank is the way to go (but I think they are mineral glass) or the new Santos no date. Your statement is right but there is always the exception. I think you need to have a few watches first and the Tank or Santos would be the 3rd or 4th, I feel the same way about IWC, GS, Zenith and JLC to a lessor degree.

>>14930302
I had it, wears very large on a 7 inch wrist, in the end the fact it only had a 60min chronograph drove me mad, 12hr sub dial or nothing on a chronograph.

the superocean is a nicer watch than the bb, you don't need the bb, it's fake vintage will be out of fashion in a few years (at some point people will realise for the same money they can have the original, in most cases) I thought you were getting a Rolex next, I do like the bb58 tho.

You have a superocean and speedy, go JLC (master control something or reverso) or 36mm datejust. Seamaster is nice and all but you have a diver.
