when it happens the best thing you can compare it to is a cartoon character. it's not about one outfit or one garment. if, day in day out, you present yourself the same way, wearing your style and carrying yourself your way, it catches people's eyes. it's like watching a cartoon character irl: everything about you is exactly you, no bullshitting or half assing, and it tells people all about you.

"dressing like you" or whatever doesnt mean "be an individual" or "only wear things literally no one else wears", it means curate garments in your wardrobe which together are a reflection of you. anyone can go to target or the gap and get clothes to do their purpose. but putting thought into your clothes - not thought to make sure its trendy (unless part of your personality is desire to be trendy) - but to make sure it says something accurate about you is what the goal is. its really like costuming yourself, or if you tried to turn yourself into a character.

/rant, that turned into advice and less about me. back to personal inspo, now that i've got my philosophy out there

i'm a musician, so i pick things to wear that align with that. my favorite music to listen/ make is old - folk, shoegaze, some post punk - so my style tries to reflect that. that doesnt mean i dress like the jesus and mary chain, but i definitely take some cues from their look.
