this is the rough hierarchy of the swatch group
the higher up they are the more "haute" they are
largely accurate though i would put longines lower than omega

certina along with mido is like the citizen of the swatch group
everyday watches fine for what they are but largely uninteresting office designs

>what is profit
every brand does this. Lower end models are intentionally made to look shitty.

This. The 60% loophole is correct.
https://www.fhs.swiss/eng/strengthening.html

I would even go so far to say that the more expensive ones are also mostly made in china but they hide it better.
I would feel ripped off if i had to pay for "luxury wrist watches"
>made partly in china
>using loopholes to put a label on it
>a few big conglomerates, like the swatch group, LVMH, Richemont... have split up the market between them and use non free market tactics to stay in business
>brands spend a lot of money to keep the illusion of value for their bloated products

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/may/18/richemont-destroys-nearly-500m-of-watches-in-two-years-amid-buyback-policy

It's their products and they can do whatever they want with it, but knowing all this and still giving them your money and also defending the brands, is top tier slave-mindset.
