How should I style with my hair?

I've used only the same brand of shampoo on my hair since I was a kid and I get a ton of compliments on how soft my hair is, so I would like to avoid adding any products that could throw that off.

Also, please forgive my need to shave. I'm home on break and forgot my razor in my apartment.
