if you think your shirts are lame, buy cool ones to replace them. you could also dye them a cooler color, tailor them, or add an embroidery if you don't want to be wasteful. finding cooler clothes is easier said than done but fashion takes effort. its very hot where I live but I don't have to look basic because I spent the last few years currating a wardrobe of things that don't rely on any jacket to look good. you can try incorporating flashy colors, various textures and unique design details. your shirt having a less basic cut goes a long way too. cropped and boxy is pretty much the meta but weirdly long shirts like the one I posted can be cool too.
