>both the original art directors who were around when elizabeth commisioned her bespoke perfume as well as the aformenetioned people who actually perfumed her are both long dead and gone
I doubt her perfumers are dead and gone, she only died a year and a half ago. Unless she pulled a Pharoah and had all her favorite craftsmen buried alive with her body so they can continue to serve her in the afterlife, in which case, holy fucking based

At any rate, a royal warrant is issued to a company whose goods are routinely purchased by particular royal family members (usually the monarch, the heir apparent and the consort to the monarch) and is renewed in five year intervals. The Queen issued a royal warrant for perfume to Floris in the late 70s and renewed it every five years until 2019, which means she was regularly purchasing perfume from them right up until the day she died.

I honestly don't know enough about the company to say where they source their oils from so I'll just assume you're right, but at the end of the day, the title of perfumer goes to the person who composed the fragrance, not the oil house. And as for their bespokes, it's not like they call up Firmenich and pass along your request. You go to the store, tell them you're envisioning and they pour it on the spot and adjust it to your satisfaction all in the same day.

At less than $600 dollars, I would be hard pressed to call that level of service a rip-off if we were talking about an indie perfumer on etsy, much less the oldest fragrance house in Great Britain. Guerlain charges $130,000 for their bespoke service. Guerlain is an infinitely more iconic house (plus that bee bottle is fucking goat), but a $129,000 price differential is pretty steep. Honestly, Floris has some of the fairest prices in the game for this sort of brand. They can get up to around $300+, but most of their popular fragrances cost less than $150 retail and can be found at discounters for around $45.

You have commissioned your own $130,000 bespoke signature scent from Guerlain, right anon? You're not poor, are you? You're not allowed to post in this general if you are poor. They come in the same 1 liter bee bottle that was originally designed to hold Eau de Cologne Imperiale, a fragrance crafted for Empress Eugenie on the night of her wedding to Napoleon III. You can't post here anymore until you have one made. It's part of the rules.
