My dad wants to get me a watch as a graduation present, what should I get? He didn't really give a budget, but I don't really want to make my parents spend more than like $3000 or so but I guess I'm open to suggestions. I wear divers almost every day so I thought about maybe a nicer diver, but I love having a cheap beater SKX so much that I'm not sure how I would feel about wearing a diver worth a bunch of money. I already have a sentimental dress watch, too. So I guess that leaves a sort of a casual watch, maybe a chrono.

I already have some vintage Omegas that were my grandfather's and my dad's so having my own would be neat, but modern Omegas seem too damn expensive and I'm not crazy about them. I guess the blue-dial Aqua Terra is pretty nice, I sort of like the Speedmaster Professional too. I like Tudors too, the Ranger especially. I've been looking at some Sinn or Damasko watches. I've wanted a Grand Seiko for a while, but I already have so many damn Seikos. I really hate Nomos and other trendy Bauhaus stuff.

Any more suggestions?

Omegas are free if you wait for a relative to die or get tired of wearing his.

Look pretty good, it's a shame the case is so scratched up but whatever water damage you're talking about on the dial at least doesn't seem like it's too bad so I think there's a pretty nice looking face hidden behind the scratched up crystal. Having a watch with some sentimental value is pretty great.

Polish/replace the crystal and get it serviced and cleaned up and we can be pals. If you want a new leather strap then the one I have is a Hirsch Ascot and I think it looks great, all the Hirsch straps are pretty high quality.
