Oldfag here, I was goth as fuck back in the late 90's. All the people I met who were into Neofolk back in the day were super artsy bohemian goth hippy types, a few hard as fuck rivetheads (not the gray cyber goth kind) and some real nazis. Nowadays it seems like they're all these post blackmetal tryhards. After I got into /out/ related stuff a ton and stopped caring about fashion I now look like some disgusting occult hillbilly. Sorry for blogposting I just find the evolution of niche stuff like this interesting, especially because I got to see a lot of it firsthand.
