Ecofascists are lost actually.

Ted K and Linkola were absolutely wrong. More advanced technology leads to more wealthy society which brings more environmental care. Nowadays ecology is better than it was 50 years ago, and it's getting better. Can you imagine act on carbon emission 50 years ago? Today it's part of the government agenda.
"returning to the basics" on the other hand is actually destroys the planet. Why? Well, because societies living like these environmentalists dream are considered primitive and primitive living can't bring society to prosperity. Why prosperity is crucial? Because when you all about surviving you don't give a shit about ecology. You would kill anything that provides meat and fur, chop down anything that can burn and make a shelter, you would do anything to stay alive and fed.

People of the West now live in comfort, they are well fed and provided with every resource they need. And we have economy so sustained that we can talk about basic income. Thus we can focus on environment and put enormous amount of resources to make it better.

The biggest threat to ecology are the less advanced societies who built their economy on natural resources extraction.

So yeah, human progress is the actual key to saving the planet.
