Twisted lugs; they're on many of the Seamaster and Speedmaster models. I like them. On bracelet you don't notice them as much, but on straps you can see the beauty. They still look good even when they're roughed up a bit. Straight lugs can be boring if the rest of the watch isn't really interesting, and they might also seem unrefined.

Bear in mind that buying a luxury watch is absolutely not about 'what you need'; it's about what you're passionate about. If you're not passionate about the watch you're about to buy, then it's not worth buying. If a TAG doesn't make your heart beat faster, then why bother?

Regarding not living to 50; be advised too that any of us could be gone tomorrow in a car accident...or in a month due to a sudden attack of the Covids. That's actually more reason to buy only what you love, and if you don't love it, don't buy it, and if you can't afford it, then save.

>pic makes me smile like a kid when I look at it. Your watch should do the same.

My understanding is that 'self-winding rotor' was a serious improvement at the time; it was unique in the watchworld for a brief time. It's like how cars that had automatic transmission would have 'automatic' on the back of the trunk.

It's just their lingo.

I've always wanted one actually, and originally I thought I'd do a JLC Reverso for that function. Then I tried one on and hated it. I'm really tempted to do something vintage (i.e. rectangular hand-wound Omega from 1920s/30s)...and there's nothing that is talking me out of it so far.

Curious...I wear suits regularly throughout the year, though not on a daily basis. They're awesome if they're fitted to you well. Regarding the 'separate uniform'...since people in society still judge others by how they dress, uniforms are what we wear throughout life unless we live outside of society. As tempting as it is to do my business wearing pajamas, it's not practical, safe, or confidence building in my clientele who pay me....lol

It depends on what brand, which dealer you're buying from, etc. Covid-Year is a crapshoot though; prices for Omega have continued to go up regardless this past year.

It really depends on two factors: do you wear the watch above or below your ulna, and where do the lugs of the watch fall. Anyway, it doesn't matter much because your eyes will adjust to the size after a week of continuous wear. Right now my 'new' MOTM looks way too large because I've been wearing the Mark 40 for the past 2 months straight; going from 39mm to 42mm is like putting on a 45mm Railmaster or a Panerai again. Perception changes with time...don't worry about what other people might think. Wear what you love; it's your life.

>no pics yet of the MOTM...

It's a great watch; yours has a nice patina on the lume. I miss mine a lot.

Thanks! I really like it.

Interesting...I've never looked into special editions at all. My ADs really aren't looking to do discounts because in a big city with a lot of money, they don't have to. I was looking at a generic Hesalite Speedmaster at my Omega boutique last year, and the nice guy who I talked with and built history with told me the best price he could do. But when I went home and went against the Omega website and the 'suggested retail price', it was the same...there wasn't a discount of any sort by comparison. But perhaps ADs in smaller cities or places where the business is slow will be willing to do that just to move inventory.

One does have to make serious calculations though. If the cost of servicing is say, 800$, then you have to factor that into the cost of buying a well-used older watch to see if you come out better off. If you can get a speedy for 2500USD (basic and generic), you're really getting a new one for 3300USD. Is that a good deal? I think so if the normal price is 5500 or whatever. But paying full price for one new from an AD really isn't worth it unless you're never going to wear it.

You can even get gently used ones from jewelry stores, maybe because the previous owner traded it in or whatever. That's how I got the Rolex, anyway, back in the day.

Sorry, I forgot the other questions.
The subdials are sunk, and the day/month are even lower. Here's a better pic without glare, but closer to the watch so the size looks big. I still haven't done a lume shot yet.

The condition is excellent except for the nick on the outside of the ring (it's pretty deep) at 110 on the tachymeter. But, I can live with that because the rest of the watch is pristine. Bless the Japanese...I've never had a problem getting watches from there. They always seem to describe the watches accurately.
