ten c parka, made in italy. taken out of union page:
"The line is designed by two ex-pats from Stone Island, they R & D'd a fabric that is breathable, waterproof and is a KNIT NYLON. It's kinda crazy! The fabric basically gets better as it patina's with age and wear. It's fucking awesome. It is extremely smooth to the touch and seems to have a sheen to it. It is really dense and heavy, you feel like a million bucks wearing it!"

$1500 tho :(

Vass is another Austrian brand making completely handmade shoes, they have both traditional Austrian lasts and a line of Italian and English lasts to choose from. They're also one of the cheaper brands that I would consider to be "best quality" at around 800 for most of their shoes.
Aubercy is a french brand making some beautiful and unique shoes, I like them for their button boots, I have no idea what they go for these days, but it's probably under 1000.
Corthay is another french brand that beautiful, high quality shoes. I haven't seen anything super unique that I loved from them, so I'm not overly familiar.
Berluti is the last of the big 3 french brands. They're known best for the interesting antiqueing of the leather they use, although I find that apart from that, they lag behind some of the other high end brands in quality.
Crockett and Jones Handgrade runs around 700, and is a lot of shoe for the price. I think these are one of the better values along with Vass and St. Crispins. Their lasts are all pretty solidly english and they do great things with scotch grain leathers.
Carmina is a spanish brand that also comes in at the low end of your budget, I think they go up to about 750-800 at the most. Their Rain last is quite beautiful, and they have a decent reputation at their pricepoint, though I would give the edge to C&J Handgrades unless you like their lasts better.
The two US shops that have the best variety are Leather Soul, and Leffot, you can also find lists of stockists for most of the brands I mentioned on their individual websites.

Don't buy church's, since they were bought out by Prada they've become incredibly crappy for the price. C&J is great for the price, especially handgrade. Alden is great for Shell Cordovan or cowhide, but you get a better value for calfskin shoes from european brands.

saved this from mf, may interest some:

John Lobb is generally considered to be the best shoemaker in the world, though there are several brands at a similar level that could easily be argued for depending on what style you like. The deconstructions in the sidebar actually show a little better quality in the RTW coming from Edward Green, OTR can be had as low as $1000-1300 but bespoke runs about 3-4k. The reputation for bespoke come from JL St. James and not the Paris location.
Edward Green is another english brand with a long history and a great reputation, their lasts are a little slimmer than JL and the quality is roughly equal. They also fall into the 800-1300 range.
Gaziano and Girling is a newer brand but IIRC they both came from Edward Green before starting G&G, Gaziano made lasts for EG. they make Italian inspired shoes on a goodyear welt and are one of the most fashion forward high end brands. They run 900-1300.
Saint Crispins is an Austrian brand known for unique designs and completely handmade and handsewn shoes. They work with a variety of exotic leathers and do a lot of cool and big welts, Norvegese, Goyser ect. I'm a fan of hand sewn welts, so I find these to be a great value. I don't remember how much they were last time I priced them out, but I think they're in the same 1000 price range.
