This palete - as far as color theory goes - should be your go-to colors.
The redish ones, here marked in black should maybe be avoided. I can see the cream one on the right working, but it is kinda hard to pull off.

I for myself dress in both, those, earthy colors, but also monochrome. Depends what I like to wear at the moment.

If you are not afraid of work and willing to put some money into it aswell, get rid of the ceiling lamps.
In my opinion it is way better to have lamps on the walls (one/two on each wall, depending on the cut of the room).
+ indirect/better illumination of the room
+ you are not commited to the location of your table/ etc.
+ no headbumping when you rearange your stuff
