Looks pretty cool on the outside. Idk about that color scheme on the inside. I'll be insulating it this summer so we'll see how it holds up for winter. I can get pretty cold in them mountains.

I'll probably put my old unit numbers on the bumper.

You'd have to see inside the cab to know this, but it just wouldn't work out well or look too nice.

Are you mad that I spent more money on a truck instead of a shitty campervan? I don't get...

>> No.849865 [View]

Yeah, that's ideally what you want. The back is already wired so you can flip a switch and run off the batteries, or an external power supply for larger items. Only makes sense to have an inverter for your 110 when you're not near an external source.

I think the inverter I got in there now cost about that much. Only used it to charge my laptop so i could watch movies.

I stayed in the Black Hills part of SD. Not much wind there unless a storm was coming. I briefly thought of purchasing one of this DIY windmill kits off of harbor freight but had to leave and never really did any calcualtions

Yes, I saw a stove/oven combo at cabellas. Was interested in that but I'll have to learn how to run the plumbing for it and the best place to store the propane tank.

>>849076
I've got most of it figured out. But I really want to see what cool shit others suggest i do to it/put in it. I just don't know what I'm going to do about the floor where its just metal. I paid 17k for it which was probably way too much. But its in great condition compared to a lot of other ones I'd seen. Drove it from IN to IL to SD and it ate up just under $800 in gas. I think once I insulate it, finish the wiring, and add a heater I'll have no problem selling the thing and getting back what i put into it

I need shelter from heat and cold. That's pretty much it. I've done this before for about 3-4 months so everything else is pretty much a comfort rather than a need.

As far as a bed, I found some roll out beds at ikea. Only twin size but that fits me. Plus I was thinking of mounting them to the wall so they can fold away like a murphy bed.

When it comes to stuff like electricity, I've already figured all that out. Solar panels wont be good because for now the truck is and will be in South Dakota. One bad hail storm and there goes all my panels. I've also done some calculations and just to recharge the batteries the truck runs off of using the sun would take like 36 hours of ideal lighting conditions.

The inside lights will run off the truck battery. 24v fridge bulbs. Don't do shit when its day and you have sunlight coming through the windows but are great at night. And even having 6 of them on would take weeks before it drains the battery past the point where it can't start the vehicle.

I've already wired the vehicle so it can run the lights on battery and when i flip a switch I can plug into a standard home outlet or rv outlet. That's pretty much when I'll be using electricity, when I'm in civilization somewhere. And I've got a spot for the battery bank, right where I took the spare tire from

I will be taking out the boards that are there now and replace them with a frame, insulation, and then cover it all up with some osb. Right now I just have osb over it all and the spots where its just metal and no wood, you can feel the cold air coming up from those spots. Someone suggested some spray insulation underneath but that has to be checked and maintained if im off roading all the time, i assume.
