florida attorney who regularly handles mold cases here:
1) get a hepa filter mask and wear it whenever in the room
2) get all fabrics out and wash them
3) get all furniture out, outside if possible
4) ditch the mattress its dead to you
5) tape / plastic over door and vents. isolate room. open windows if not raining.
6) buy Concrobium from local hardware store. spray it on everything. obviously, the mold especially. let dry.
7) get vacuum with hepa filter and vacuum up everything. remember the mask.
8) run fans and heaters to thoroughly dry the area.

a pro mold remediator would recommend replacement of the drywall but this may be beyond you at the moment. if you do these steps you coukd have a handyman replace the drywall. if so, follow the above treatment steps inside the wall as well and thoroughly dry before they replace the new drywall.

a mold inspection will run about $400 but should include infrared images, a scope inside the wall, at least 2 samples, and a remediation protocol similar to what i listed here.

good luck op

building is 20x32 dipshit. a 3 standard stall garage would be 20 deep and 30 wide. im not using it as a 3 stall, i have the door on the short end, so its a super deep 2 car

waited to sheath bc i couldnt sheath, root, and wrap all in the same day. it rains alot and i needed to keep the osb dry.

wow, great job assuming tons of information, moron. i live on my own and have my own business. im 29. so far ive paid for most of the work.

as for harbor freight... im not in any hurry to buy too much stuff from there, but if their hand tools have a lifetime warranty, tell me why i should spend several times more for another brand which is likely also made in china? i was pretty selective... jacks, wrenches, saw horses, cool. torque wrench? craftsman. table saw? ryobi. planer? rigid. jointer? craftsman. yea, i bought an electric harbor freight impact gun, its just to hold me over until i have a compressor, and yes i bought a harbor freight engine stand and hoist because im not a fucking rockefeller. damn yo.

>>988810
ironically i specifically insisted on aluminum windows because fuck vinyl. and no, there will be no gaudy fence. +1 for racism tho

lastly...
>>988514
fuck you man lets see you do half the shit ive done. you feel like a big man on the internet?

you can keep on hating, but, you know, my dumb old parents are going to be able to enjoy the space a lot more like this, they can have parties on the back patio, and i am going to have tons of space to restore my car and work on our daily drivers. it does what i want it to do. sorry it offended 4chan's aesthetic sensibilities, this whole state is a shithole anyways and this dumbass early 80s shitbox wasnt going to look great any way you slice it so all i can do is make it as useful and as comfortable as possible. hopefully some of you can see that, and see the merit in the work im doing regardless of if you think the cement looks nice. really the thread is about all the modifications happening inside and the building of the garage, but if all everyone wants to do is hate on the concrete ill piss off

>> No.989287 [View]

>>988000
specifically to answer the question of why not revert the garage and build a party shed: because this isnt a goddamn frat house. my parents need the extra space inside, and it serves everyones purposes better to have a detached garage. plus, in the future, when my mom retires, i will finish the garage and turn it into a small rental for additional income for her.

despite everyones criticisms this is actually a pretty well thought out plan. is the concrete pretty? no. but it was cheaper than brick or pavers and it achieves a goal. cant have everything dickweeds.

i got tired of clicking posts. LOTS of criticism here for the concrete. fuck you guys. do any of you realize how much more brick costs than concrete? or that you need a slab to build a garage on? No shit a paved patio would have been nicer, im not a moron. thanks for making me feel like shit. but this is the reality: as expensive as the concrete was, it was exponentially cheaper. it widened the driveway which was necessary to accommodate the number of cars we need to park, and got me a slab for the garage. Now, as for the back... yea i would have preferred that to be brick. but the whole reason we paved it is because this is going to be my mom and dads house, and they like having big fucking patio parties. my dad is 86, and has had 2 knee replacements. he cant walk on a lawn. he would trip and fall on pavers. this is the safest thing for him. so again, fuck you guys, it achieves a purpose..

then poured most of the backyard. 7 trucks total, 70 cubic yards. about $8k for the concrete.

we had a few goals:
1) more parking
2) bigger front porch
3) giant back patio for parties
4) a slab for a detached garage, since the old one was converted

mission accomplished

So, my parents recently bought a new house and I am in the process of helping them renovate it. It wasn't bad to start with but kind of small and outdated. I figured I would start a thread and detail the work I'm doing and having others do. There will be a series of posts here at the beginning to get things started since I need to bring you all up to speed. First, the house.

listed as 1440 sq ft 3bed 2 bath

this right here
>When I reconnected the battery again, nothing happened. So do you know if there is some type of button that act like a reset? So I can just press it once and the ds4 is off. But won't stay in the "off position", would return to its original state right after being triggered.

if you only have one use then its not going to ask. but it sounds like you want the controller to be powered on and functioning when you flip the switch back to "on." you said that when you reconnect the battery (same as turning the switch on) that "nothing happened." then you asked for a button that functioned like a "reset"

aaaaaand fuck i think i just realized what the fuck you were trying to say. jesus, man. i think you mean that you are looking for a "latching switch" meaning you push it once to turn off, push it again to turn on, rather than sliding or toggling from on to off. the current mode persists (unlike a momentary switch) but its a button rather than a toggle.

is that what you meant?

yea i figured it is but i dont want to wait for hours until it cools off

i could maybe save a little and go with a 10 or 12k btu but given the lack of insulation i thought 18k was wise

i understand mounting it higher on the wall to be smart, but im mainly concerned about the proper way to install it in a wood frame exterior wall. i figure ill run a stringer like for a window, and one on top, cut the osb and siding out... but doesnt seen right to just put the unit in there.... like i ought to install some flashing or something

>> No.972058 [View]

>>971642
this may be a super dumb question but any advice for someone thinking about installing a 18000 btu window unit for occasional use in their 400sqft garage?

i know its not insulated, and the open ceiling creates a lot of space, but once in a while id like to be able to work in the garage with the door down and not fucking die. its like 100 degrees here. and it rains all the time.

operative phrase "if installed correctly"

but do you have any idea how many half assed handyman repairs ive seen? units installed with drains that leak all over the drywall? units covered in mold? condenser coils 12 inches from a dyer outlet vent?

never assume that things were done correctly before you got there. never assume the last guy was competent. because now that you've touched it, liability is on you.

damn i didnt get here in time

i was going to say dont sand it just paint in

in fact, dont paint it either. dye it. i have done this. you clean it insanely well, wipe down with alcohol after, let dry, then spray it all over with vinyl dye. it actually colors the plastic and soaks in so it doesnt scratch off, and will make a shitty old beige monitor look 100 times better by making it a nice deep black.

why did nobody suggest this

you get it at the auto parts store or walmart its in a can just like spray paint google this shit

hurr durr you cant patent something that exists already

yes you can dumbass its called a design patent. you're thinking only of utility patents, which are not the only type, in fact, far from it.

on the other hand, if the function of the device is substantially different from existing similar devices, eg, the motors drive the mill differently, fewer gears, two vs one motor, etc. then he might be able to get a utility patent as well.

>>893231
its called disclaimers, man. and it would have to be inherently flawed or unreasonably dangerous to warrant a lawsuit, you cant sue knife manufacturers if you cut yourself.

oh damn and i also meant to ask.... is the rating (e.g. 400v 6a, 200v 50a) the maximum it can handle or ought that match the specs of the transformer exactly?

the transformer takes 110/115v ac and outputs 24/39v dc at 2.5amps... at least thats what the manual says... why are there 2 voltage values?

jesus i should have taken some electrical engineering classes
