Singer's of that era suck to be honest. Look on craigslist for a Necchi from the 50s-60s. They can be had cheaply and are workhorses that already come motorized. You'll probably spend less than what you would for a motor and pedal for the singer.

>TL;DR
Don't bother trying to motorize that old singer.

The guy you got it from previously didn't suffer tank failure. You're asking for it.

This is what a "blast injury" looks like. One of the most common causes of this injury is pressurized tank failure. I saw a guy two months ago who was doing the SAME FUCKING THING YOU ARE. He was in the attic of a house using an old air compressor, standing next to it when the tank ruptured. It blew both of his legs into splinters, and the tank was only like 30 gallons.

Do you have any FUCKING idea how painful a blast injury is? You can buy a new tank for less than $100 bucks. Attach it to the old compressor, and you're good to roll.

You have any idea how much money it costs to open both of your legs up surgically, take all of the pieces of bone out with a pair of tweezers, and reconstruct each bone while you're under anesthesia.... ?

Don't be a moron!

"Sparky's" rape people for shit like this. Honestly, a monkey could run the wires that you need.

Are you really that uncomfortable that you need to hire an electrician or are you solely worried about your insurance company. If the latter, you should really consider doing the job yourself. I don't know your current educational status, but consider that almost all electricians are tradesmen who spent the majority of their highschool career in shop class.

Local electrician got my girl the other day for 300 bucks to dig a 2 foot trench and bury #10 to her freestanding garage. He came back and I gave him shit and he had some line about needing an education to do it. Fucker could barely use the English language correctly and had rotting front teeth.

Learn how to do simple stuff like this now and be free of "tradesman" for life.

You can't make that cut with an angle grinder, period - no matter how many blades you have. You need a band saw with a metal cutting blade. A plasma cutter large enough to go through an axe head costs $$$$.

Check craigslist for a used band saw. You will not be able to machine the head of that axe into what you want for less than the cost of a new pickaxe or wood axe.

Urethane will be a "sticky" surface for skin contact. Wood working stores have a variety of oils for non cloated surfaces.

Forgot the nametag.

Really, don't bust your knuckles dealing with that shit and WD40. Saw it out. Throw away. Replace with new faucet.

Cheap is relative. With the right "known how", it can be very inexpensive to purchase the best that money can buy.

I missed the part where you were talking about reusing the damned thing or replacing it.

Regardless, an angle grinder is an important tool to have for a DIYer.

Autozone is garbage. The picture I posted will get you entirely through the job.

The accessory belt(s) are easy, a single tensioner.

No, I can't export it. If you want Alldata, torrent version 9.8 or 10.

https://thepiratebay.la/torrent/9637407/AllData_10.53_%28Q3_2013%29_-_Install_Disc__US_Domestics__Extras

It's fucking huge though.

Oh duh, I was thinking of the speed sensor. Yeah, it comes off the ignition module in the distributor. You can wire it to any electronic gauge. And what material you use to make a panel is really up to you. Its an art kinda thing, do what you like.

I've made a panel out of wood before. But I had a band saw and professional paint stuff for staining and clear coating.

Wiring a tachometer is really dependent on what provision there is on the transmission for a sensor. Sensors of that era are gear driven, so if there's not one already on the transmission, you won't be able to wire a tachometer. Short of hooking up a bicycle sensor to a wheel somewhere. ;)

Attached is the instructions that any shop would have access to via AllData Repair. If it is the 1.3 liter engine you're dealing with, this is one of the easiest timing belt jobs in the world - much like old Volvo's.

I DEFINITELY recommend you give it a shot yourself - it will be hard to botch the job, and you'll learn a lot that you'll take with you in life. The timing belt is likely not the culprit for squeeling however. It's a cogged belt - those don't squeal. Its likely an accessory belt, and highly likely its a V belt. You should change those first if your car isn't scheduled for a timing belt job.

That feeling. New door on the right, old door on the left. The old door is pinkish because I had painted the red cars inside the bay.

Maxwell architecture is coming at the end of the year/early next year.

It will devaluate the GTX5xx and 6xx series a great deal. My old 680 was an absolute dream. I imagine even the lowest grade 600 will be highly refined. Aftermarket coolers, like the "windforce" edition of cards are soooo quiet.
