yes they are easy to replace, turn off power to the existing fixture before starting, when you have the old one removed, make sure the ceiling box is sturdy and mounted to something solid, if its loose, you either install a supporting 2x4 or replace the box with an adjustable fan box... you dont want your shiny new fan to fall onto your shiny head :)

whats the point in disabling the chip?
you could get some rare earth magnets either buying or out of an old hard drive and laying em on the chip for awhile
also you can take it to a store with one of those self scan things and put it on the demagnitizer that disables the door alarm strips in products

if unsure, just get a structural engineer in there to tell you whats what, usually a load bearing wall will have multiple 2x4s sandwiched together to help carry the load
if your gutting it, just rip all of the wall covering off, look for steel support pillars and 2x4s nailed together to make pillars, everything else can go
the weight of a house is supported in the center and the exterior walls, youll see what i mean when you open up the walls

i actually built my desk out of leftover hardwood floor planks
glue them together and clamp until you have one solid surface, sand, sand, sand and poly the top
you end up with a sweet solid oak desktop for little to no money

probably the best way to go about putting solar in your home would be to have it run a sub panel that does all your lighting and outlets
leave your a/c and water heater (if electric) on the main grid

unless your willing to pay for the copyrighted art, i doubt youll be able to get the actual vector logo
the easiest way to get this logo would probably be to buy that mousepad, slap it on your scanner, scan it on your highest resolution
the other solution would be to use that mousepad as a layer in photoshop and you create the logo by basically tracing it onto another layer
