I plan to release everything once I've more or less broken even :)

All my old stuff has been open sourced after I do that. It keeps me inventing. It's a bit scattered all over microcontroller and android forums though.

The only thing I didn't open is the bomber drone stuff from 2007 because basically some FBI lady asked me not to.

This will only work with a XYZ gantry. The trick is having a "small" diode do up to 1/4" acrylic.

>>626629

Getcha, thanks. The last time that happened it was me scooping Google on Android robotics by about six months. They basically dealt with it by ignoring me. Everyone at the time told me I should've gotten a patent.

I think so?

My hope is that if I can get 12k out of this, I can just put schematics / working drawings / etc on hackaday or here or on my wiki.

Pretty much, yeah. Also thermal coupling.

I want to opensource this but I'm kinda broke...

Looks like they were having problems with the whole ssl thing.

>>622951

About $10k there is a minimum quantity for bulk-ordering the diodes basically.

Buy a 3D printer, and use it to make bits of a bigger 3D printer. Works well.

I recommend the Solidoodle 2 because it Just Works and it's mechanically very solid.

You can get an A140-M140 on ebay. The problem is that actual power output varies a lot (1.5 to 2 watts). The driver I came with mitigates the problem.

50~70 bucks depending on how many you get. The other parts are pretty cheap too.

got me now I"m getting a time out.

That's why this says "Goggles do something" on the laser-equipped printer :)

The driver I designed is clever enough that one of these can run for 18 hours continuously (save for changing the workpiece under it, so I'd say 98% uptime). I know this because it's how I spent most of last week, people have been buying lasercut parts.

Also, I tested a bunch of diodes, let's say that the one I am using caused the least amount of unintended fires :)

The acrylic lenses melted very quickly and somewhat messily.

I know, we are moving servers :) It is why I linked the cache.

Loads on uspto for me.

>>622812

Thanks, maybe email me. I generally do open source my work.

My wiki is down right now, but here's a link to the google cache, to prove it.

Thanks, I'll try them! Looks like a good alternative to KS.

Website is as above, am moving servers right now but will add a lasers page.

I think I'll do this and come back in a month with the full schematics.

A while ago. Going public with this now because I got the patent on Friday, and I was busy yesterday.

I wish it was possible to start selling stuff before getting a patent, in my experience if you do, people will retcon your work.

Anyway, if I sell 20~50 depending on how much I can sell them for, I will have made a (symbolic) net gain on this, so I can open it.

OK fair enough!

Again, I try to be generous with my designs, I'm just a bit tired of seeing people make from them 10x the money I ever do.

I had a donate button, I took it down after it took in $5 in 3 years. It was just depresing.

Makes sense, but you'll need the schematic for the circuit then, no? Or did you just want the electronics.

Thanks, if you do want to buy a beta laser, email me at mkb -at- robots-everywhere.com If you tell me what 3d printer you have I'll whip up the right clamp.

Sorry, that's my /tg/ stuff... wrong link.

http://robots-everywhere.com/site/ Right link. Wiki down because I'm moving hosts, but there you go. Laser stuff not up yet (again, am moving hosts)
