One things for sure, it's never the 'models' fault, it's always the photographer that makes them do stupid shit, but because the photographer cares more about how the photo looks rather than if it makes sense or not, you get this shit.

I worked as a volunteer at a summer camp, these photos were from the first year. They fixed the programs so that these don't happen much anymore.

At least, that's what they say. I'm going to work there again this summer.

(Last photo is of a catapult made by a seven year old. He used 1/4" dowel rod as an axis point and no instructor stopped him.)

Current photo is the aftermath of a camper ripping a speaker out of a boom box. He wondered afterwards why it didn't work...

Nope. They all have rich parents and have never had to work or build anything in their entire lives. They drive brand new BMWs, or WRX's or whatever. Their parents will buy a house for them to use for 4 years then turn it over to a property management company when they graduate. A couple I know are excited to apply for a 1 bedroom apartment for only $1400 a month. My 2 bed 2 bath shitty condo is valued well over $400,000. The average DIYer isn't going to buy an air compressor that can properly turn a tool like a die grinder. I tried it with a cut off tool, which is similar. My friend who is studying architecture tells me the same things. University is full of average people that just don't get what they are doing.

Design is a process driven approach to creating value for clients and end consumers. ITS NOT ART YOU ASS HOLES.

I have a 4 hp compressor. It came with a 10 gal tank, but I added a 3 gal to the set up. Shuts off at 120 PSI. It is the normal level DIY compressor. To have a compressor that could put out the CFMs for cut off tools and air grinders is to move up to a very large stand up compressor. I looked into it after the cut off didn't work for crap. It said it only need 90 PSI to work. Then I learned about CFMs. My set up came up short. I looked at the compressors capable of that CFM rating, I can't afford that extra expense compared to just buying the electric version.

For all that that is insanely moronic, it isn't all that unsafe. Worst that would happen is that a neutral comes out of the rear plug and you have your guitar amp and pedal board pluged into the front plug. Your ground path could be through your patch cord.

OK, strach that, that's insanely moronic and unsafe.

dc electric motors can spin >50,000rpm they're faster and have higher torque at those speeds than an air tool, the only downside is the huge amount of heat generated and short brush life.

>> No.994233

Maybe it's only 110V power tools that suck? I certainly know that 2400w is enough to run just about any hand tool.

>> No.994235

>>994233
i'm not saying there isn't shit out there because there definitely is. there is no reason why an electric tool can't be as good as an air tool though. case in point those recent battery powered impact wrenches are fucking amazing, the speed that the spindle can recover from each hammer cycle is like 5 ms compared to 100 ms of a turbine(literally 1/8 the mass to spin up in a brushless configuration), again issue is heat and battery life.

I think the real issue is consumer vs industrial, like most electric tools are consumer grade because they can flog them to hobbyist without the requirement of having an air compressor, but in a shop you always have air, so the quality tools are always air just because there's no real reason to go electric.

Most mains powered consumer devices these days (or at least those sold internationally) are designed to accept voltages between ~100-250V, in order to simplify production lines. If you're not sure, check the sticker.

Some devices, like desktop ATX PC power supplies, may require a physical switch to be moved to change between 110 and 240v, but auto-sensing units are becoming more common.

looks like jap vs USA, only difference is the frequency (50 vs 60 hz). voltage should be 110, or close to it in both places.

assuming that power cable went into a dc power supply, like most things do, it wouldnt be a problem. you will end up with a bit more ripple since the filtering caps on the full bridge are going to be specked for 60hz at some current draw... but it would work on most electronics.

the only thing i could see it not working right for, is things that use AC motors and a triac to change the speed. your going to end up with less speed since its frequency dependent.

Actually the male part is the threaded part. It goes into the threaded part of a female connector. It's the same for all connectors like that one for air hose to plumbing pipes. The non-threaded part is for the hose.
