Ever made props?
Stuff just to look at, not to serve a purpose or anything?

Pic related though not mine, trying to make some 'wizard potions' that glow in the dark, add some wax seal, chams and stuff

I was just thinking of doing this! But rather health and mana potions. Perhaps if that looks good enough I'd make other colors with different shaped bottles and vials.

However I'm just not sure exactly what to use, I know food coloring would work but would it look dark? I've never used it so if I add more will it simply just darken it more or does it have a limit? I was thinking maybe using a little bit of jello powder since that red and blue might be darker. I have no idea.

^ That is what I found but shipping kinda kills it. Have to go look local and see what I can find I guess.

Vinegar and olive oil bottles look fancy. Some beer bottles if the store sells micro brews look cool. I know for a fact they sell something that looks like a larger mana potion vinegar bottle at the store close to me. There's a vodka in a skull bottle but it's expensive as hell. My friend has an impulse to buy these products in weirdly shaped bottles so i know for a fact they're out there in any old grocery store.

>Stuff just to look at, not to serve a purpose or anything?

No....i like to get paid my day rate but i did make a lot of stuff for free for people.

Mainly because of my vacuform machine.
i feel used. But.. why do you ask OP?
Do you have a project you are working on?

I wish to make these for my boyfriend for christmas. Preferably something that will glow but a non-glowy version is fine too~

Help me, /diy/, you're mo only hope!

Yea, that's a good idea. I'd say all of those jars/bottles.etc would have screw tops or lids and either imposible to get a cork for or you'd see the screw top on the top versus something like >>91449 which is cleaner. It is an idea though.

I would use something like silicone to make a mold of the shape, then put together a small LED assembly/connector to necklace, fill the mold up with dyed epoxy resin, stick the LED assembly in the top, wait for it to dry.

Buy one of those garden lamps pinned outside on lawns and shit. Take out the bulb and put it in the bottle. Make sure that it receives sunlight so it can glow on its own

i was gonna say something like that... anything that you want to glow for an extended period of time will have to be LED, since anything else would be a chemical reaction that would last maybe a few days at most.
Solution:
1: take small, basic, single-color LED
2: run wires through thicker string or something to act as "necklace" bit
3: integrate the locking mechanism with a (watch?) battery
4: make a mould, fill with clear epoxy, after dry, scuff up the outside edges of the epoxy so that it's opaque and diffuses the LED better
5: ????????????
6: profit!

Magic Vials, Try clear glue, like elmers or something, i remember making the best fake blood with that stuff a long time ago. mix in some glow paint?? maybe let dry, put in tiny LED thing???? i dunno. or, make a sub chamber behind the vial of stuff, sabotage some old christmas lights, extend the wire into the necklace, use a 9 volt battery or a AA rigged. just a thought.
