Watchmaker here.

It's a jewellery. The only reason to have a watch is to have a watch. And a better one than your neighbour if possible. The only reason they are so expensive is that they put a shitload of work on the finish to justify the price. Because rich guys will buy a more expensive watch.

They're juste moving ,pricey wristband.
Also ,depending on the model ,it won't lost that much value. But you gotta look at tens of thousands dollar for that.

It's really interesting ,but if you're not into it ,it's not worth spending more than 500€ into a watch.

Me neither.

My watch needs to be water resistant, easy to clean, hard to fuck up, must be readable under any circumstance and a countdown timer is a must-have.

So I'm riding with a G-Shock DW6900 for five years now after I drestroyed the crystal of a Luminox (which cost me four times the money) by accidetially soft-slamming it against a metal handrail twice.

That is freaking awsome, and I would be honored to have my brain structure displayed in the living room for all to see. I would go further and hang it in the air inside a clear glass box, and scribe on a small brass plate my full name, the name of my species in Latin and under it the date this MRI scan was taken, so it looks like a preserved museum piece. It would be creepy and a very good conversation starter among guests. It would also be a reminder for me that I'm just meat and fat and my time is running out so I should stop wasting it. If it were pink or even white it would have been better, since I could paint it pinkish-grey and blue to seem lifelike.

Great job, pretty cool.

Not sarcasm in the least. I have an fMRI scan I did when I was in my 20's and I photoshopped the vertical slice where my corpus callosum and optic nerve and the 2 ventral chambers and are clearly shown, sharpened and touched it up and printed it into a 1x1m poster that I hung in my bedroom. It would be fucking amazing to even just see my brain in 3D, let alone hold it in my hands or make it into an art piece. This tech is fucking incredible and to me things like functional brain MRI scans are what Jesus-on-toast appearances are to a doubt-filled Christian.

Fucking do it, man, and you better update with some pictures of the final product when you're done. Good luck.

At this point, watches are relics. They are man-jewelry. Sure, you can find use in them... but current technology really makes having a watch to tell time obsolete.

This is why people are willing to spend obscene amounts on watches... because it is status, not usefulness, that adds value to watch ownership. It pays homage to the historical significance of watches and watchmaking, to the technical craft behind the precise mechanical parts.

Simple. The lab is irrelevant. Some people just don't like digging in their pockets when they can shift their wrist a tiny bit. Sitting it takes me much longer to pull out my phone than it does to look at my cheap-ass watch.
Not the guy you quoted, but if I have grease or generally wet or dirty hands or I am wearing gloves, I'd rather not dig in my pockets to look at the time.
If you don't think a watch is useful for you, don't assume that it isn't for anyone else.
Next up you'll give me shit for carrying a notebook and a pen with me everywhere.

Cool! (literally as well)
I might go with a higher watt resistor. Though the heat will still be the same.

Have a few 18650's lying about Ultra Fire 4200mah off of amazon. They were cheap but had the protection circuit. Thinking I can mod one of those stick-on lights to be brighter. The round ones you push to light.

Is that galv pipe around the wiring for the fixed lighting? Is that normal?

>> No.886640

>>886572
yes conduit is mandatory. you can't just leave wires exposed all over the place.

>> No.886646

>>886640
We've got different codes here. Pretty sure galv pipe is a no go, pvc is normal but for low traffic areas it's just wire clamps and the double plastic insulation (I forget the tech term) on the wire itself.

>> No.886996

>>886646
Depends on if the run is just regular 12ga wire or Romex. Here you have to run wire in EMT (PVC if it's under 15A). Romex can just be stapled every three feet or so. The EU has some funky plastic conduit they use for everything.

Don't have pics but this reminds me of something I done to get home once. Pretty much pipc related happened on my way home from work one night, I walked to a store and bought tennis balls, jammed them inside the coil and drove home. Worked surprisingly well actually.

i have those same headphones, same thing happened. took them back under warranty.

the new design has extra plastic to stop that from happening.

This piece accentuates the anger that the artist was feeling with the overall economic standards of society, as he himself was struggling to hide himself from the daily nuances that plague those of the societal underbrush. With his Coke zero in tow and his shit-tier 80's magazine to accompany him on this cold night, the only thing left is to build a barrier between himself and the ever-present warmth and light that emanated from the lamp on his Wal-Mart provisioned night stand.

The artist was making a social commentary on how we barricade ourselves in our fortresses which are our homes, and shield ourselves from life through whatever means we can tape together, thinly veiled excuses that can be torn apart with minimal effort.

just in case you didnt know already, that is the ugliest, most amateurish headphone mod in the history of humanity. you shoulda used a 3.5mm jack placed inside the headphones, which would hide most of the ugliness.
