Hey /diy/ so I have this boombox I made and it's all well and good apart from these clips on the top of it, they make this really annoy very noticeable rattling sound whenever I turn it up, can anyone recommend a solution or place to buy a different pair, I'm looking for hardware stores online but to be honest I dont even know what you call these clips.

I just need a simple, easy to attach fastening thing to keep it closed with as few moving parts as possible

A way to silence these clips would be just as good

first of all. hat sucker looks schweeet

try a thrift store. There's usually a lot of old hard suitcases for like 5, you could buy one that doesn't rattle and slap it on there

as for trying so silence them, you could try to stick some tiny rubber shims under the clips to put enough tension on them to keep them from rattling

Cheers man, it's got a 750W amp inside and turns all the way up without complaining, also it's the key mechanism that causes the most trouble I think, I kinda want those kind of locks you get on spaghetti jars but I don't know what they're called

This please. What's the power source?

Some silicone in the right places may dampen the rattling. Try a little around the keyhole.

Do you have anything in the suitcase powering the set up?

OP here, sorry I got dragged out last night, usually it has a 750w (per output, bridgeable) car amplifier inside but I'm using that for some desk speakers right now, it's powered off mobility scooter batteries which are 12V 12Ah which will power it for about 3-4 hours on, playing while walking around town volume ( very loud )

You'd think it'd piss people of but usually they don't notice we're the ones playing it until we've walked past them

Also if anyones thinking about doing this themselves I would advise
-Use locknuts so the bass dosen't shake it's bolts loose
-Not using ports is fine IF the case has a fair bit of flex to it
-Get some proper battery connectors, spade clips
-Buy speakers with a rubber suspension (not spider) they can generally take more abuse in my experience
-For the love of god try to get something that dosen't have rattly latches, it's like boombox cancer

So do you buy all your speakers new?

Whenever I look for buying new speakers they always seem overpriced and have unclear specifications

Do you know if there's a guide poster or something because I usually just get speakers from car boot sales, house clearances etc because people practically give them away
