Greetings, /diy/.

I come here to ask to see your work areas, at present and under construction, if possible.

This is my garage, which I have renovated last year. It's not my primary DIY workspace, but it is my nicest, atm.

I'm currently cleaning up / re-organizing my office/tinkering area, and planning to make my basement workshop "proper".

It's too bad the entire rest of the house is a mess...

>>638542
Well, I happened to have almost all the parts for this laying around (father was a huge electronics geek, had many random industrial parts), and I just wanted to use them for something useful. Otherwise, this particular solution (however elegant) seems incredibly cost-ineffective, when compared to the alternatives (from hanging a cup/tennis ball on a string, to buying a springy, battery-powered rod-thing).

However, this is /diy/, so I will naturally share my plans.

This was a very long, drawn out pet project of mine last year. I never really looked up references for anything similar (basically spent some spare time over a few months drawing hypothetical diagrams, before touching anything).

Basically, I wired some old through-beam photoelectric sensors (retro-reflective/diffuse didn't work because cars are inconsistently shiny, and sensing for tires is not optimal) to some truck lights with automotive relays, inside wooden boxes that I screwed to the wall (in hindsight, I would have used plastic electrical boxes). The system is powered by the +12v output on an old computer power supply, to mimic a cleaner/lower amp car battery. I put the PSU on its own power outlet, with a master switch. There is a physical switch connected to the safety/green wire of the PSU, mounted beside the garage door, that is triggered by a small arm on the door when it closes, so that the system turns off automatically.

I might draw up a basic plan for this, sometime soon.

I have 400 square feet of workshop space at home in a detached building, but at the moment it's no more than a shed with a serviced breaker box, 4 outlets, and some fluorescent lights I installed.

Until I have enough funds saved up and more time to devote to completing the workshop I'll be doing most of my projects at work. Which is fine for now because there's plenty of space and plenty of equipment I can use, including two welding stations.

The only issue at work being that sharing tools sucks. If I want to actually get things done I have to bring in my own basic tools. Especially sockets since those get lost or squirreled away all the time.

In terms of the building, go build a comfy shed, if that's what you want.
Plenty of great plans even in a quick search.

You'd either need the proper permits, or build it just under the limit without permits (check local bylaws).

But like others have said, the workshop is just something that arises out of a need. Building a "generic" one isn't really worth your time.

I've just been to a good few engineers' closet-clubhouses, and it's all the same thing, with redundant, often broken and obsolete equipment (sorry for implying that it didn't once have a use) and exceedingly poor organization, often for the sake of it.

It's not fun melting things because you don't have enough space to properly solder, or losing your screws, or spilling some chemical or ruining your equipment when it comes crashing down because it's kept too high and snagged on several loose wires.

Your equipment is honestly the least of anyone's worries. Your organization, however, is atrocious to the point that I worry for your safety.

Cleaned my room.
Still nothing special.

(and Installed an A/C, that isn't really even visible, save for the cord)

I'm surrounded by workshop space, but still haven't utilised any of it yet. This is the "loungeroom" of the place I'm renting, an old furniture factory with two connected warehouses. It's on a plot used by a demolitions and recycling business that spans three addresses and two different suburbs. Fuck. I should do something.

I swear the unicycle isn't mine.

A bit messy. Only thing that bugs me is I see containers with liquids in them but no labels.

Golden rule of chemistry. Everything gets a label

Yea nah, my shop is such shit, I laugh at it enough.
I don't need /diy/ laughing at it too.
All the windows are busted out, all the doors rotted off years ago, and to get the power to come on, I have to beat on the breaker, and blow out the wire when it bursts into flames.

Here's my shop. It's big but messy and covered in an inch of dust because I haven't touched anything in it in like a month.

A bunch of bikes, a tiny car, and a chill space.

Me likey.

There is barely enough space to fit a car in the garage as is. If I spread the tanks out there would be nowhere to park.

not completely shure what you mean

for guitar
no
top is 10 watt 6"speaker full of glorious tone and distortion when needed
bottom is a 50 watt dual 12" speaker
distortion and tone control sound worse than a 50mbps mp3 however is good for chorus tremolo phaser and acting as a slave speaker for the smaller

as for stereo
xbox↓reciever↓tape↓cd stack
