I want to make a wig for my cat. I am not trolling. It is a hairless cat. Well, a Devon Rex. So he is like covered in lint basically and has no real hair on him or fur. I think a toupee would be good.

Anyone? How can I get a toupee to stay on his head without stapling him or something?

pic related, it's my actual cat.

I don't want the hair to burn though. It'll smell. I want the toupee to just stay on his head so he kind of is more like a used car salesman.

>>61746

dude...did you see the picture? If anything that has ever lived needs a toupee it is my cat.

>> No.61755

he's got like this fine disgusting fur on him. I want to maybe collect the red hair of a friend of mine who has an immense ginger beard, and give the cat a smooth toupee of ginger hair.

I have like a piece of netting I can probably glue the hair onto, all I need to figure out is how to keep it on his head without hurting him.

He pulls off straps, like for hats or shirts or things. He's kind of a dick cat.

I'm gonna take OP seriously because why the hell not.

OP the first thing you have to consider that you probably know from owning a devon rex is you don't want to put anything on the cat that can be toxic or cause hairballs/blockages.

That said, have you considered a sweater? He doesn't look like he needs head coverage, so just a little kitty sweater would do to cover his torso. I guarantee there will be plenty of patterns for pet sweaters for free online if you look. If you've never done yarncraft, crochet will probably be easier to learn.

That said, is there any benefit to the cat to have body covering? Like is there a medical reason? Even though he has patchy fur it doesn't look like his skin is too irritated. I'd think that trying to cover up the bald patches would just irritate the skin (from friction) and cause more hair loss (from stress). Unless this is something your veterinarian has recommended, I would advise you to get over your puritanical loathing of exposed pussy flesh OP

thanks! well yeah he has a couple sweaters, he just looks...completely retarded in clothes.

His patchiness is just how he has always been. when he was a kitten it was even more disgusting to look at. He kind of looks like he is radioactive but he is healthy.

I just hate the way his head looks in the sweaters. I really want a head-wig, toupee but I don't want to glue it on if it will hurt him

and yes I am serious.

That's correct. I'm aware that you're not permanently injuring your cat, but I felt disturbed by the wanton disregard for the comfort of the animal you have already described as having health problems.

On a related note, for someone with such a unique appearance you are quite judgmental of a defenseless cat who can't help his looks. You shouldn't project your own insecurities onto him , he clearly has a hard enough life as it is.

We just got her, my parents retired and moved and didn't want to bring the cat with them (its our family cat) and I haven't had a chance to bathe her yet, but I plan on getting kitty shampoo and conditioner when I do. mainly the problem we think is that she's fat and has a tiny head and can't always reach to clean herself. brushing her gently two or three times a day helps and I'm sure she enjoys it.

Maybe I'm just sensitive because while our cat wasn't "abused" she had a stressful life - when we were kids we were noisy and rough, and then we got a large stupid dog that didn't know enough to leave her alone so they had to be kept in separate parts of the house. She likes things quiet, she's very shy and she gets stressed out easily so now that I'm not as much of a stupid kid I try to treat her gently and kindly as much as possible so I fret when I think about a mature cat being treated roughly.

yeah my cat has had it easy, no kids here, my house is quiet most of the time. He naps, eats cobwebs and hair, and cuddles the dog. He's having a grand old retirement.

He can't get brushed, it'd just be rubbing at his skin really. I do a conditioner on him once a week, and those rubbery like comb nubby things once in a while.

I only took him because they were gonna kill him or whatever, he is not a very good specimen even for such a weird and gross breed...he's not consitently thin-haired he is patchy like a chemo patient...

I love my defective asshole cat

his name's oskar.
he gave me his beard because I didn't want him to shave it off. it was glorious.

cat beard is halfway done but I have to go to work now. and yes to whoever had wig knowledge, is there an easier way to put this together?

oskar seems to have had no problems at all from his toupee tryout. he's taking his morning nap in front of the radiator now.

op i want to kill you. really. there's no need to glue stuff to a fucking cat. it doesnt need to look good. its a fucking cat. the cat doesn't care. you shouldn't care, it's not like you're fucking the cat or dating it, he's your cat-bro and he doesnt need to be pretty.

glue on a cats skin? did you even google if that might be harmful? cats lick themselves asshole. and you know what its not something you can google, because no one does this. you're risking your cats health for no good reason at all. slight risk or not, no risk is worth pointless bs. and its impossible to understand fully the risks anyways because nobody does this. gluing things to your cat. fuck. i would call the spca on you if i knew where you lived.

why do i even bother? human nature is such that people are generally incapable of admitting when they're wrong. so no matter what i say you'll stubbornly insist you did the right thing, even if it kills your cat, and you'd do it again. no one has the marbles to sit back and think "holy fuck i did something retarded and i am in fact a stupid person i am sorry i did that and will do nothing like that again". or are you different op? can you admit when you're wrong? fuck i know your answer is going to be "yes i can. but i did the right thing putting glue all over my cat"

but the worried tone of that post is also the reason I drew the line at a mustache. I didn't want to risk him getting sick from licking at it.

(I didn't leave the glue on him after the wig comes off, I'm not a fucking retard. warm water on a rag and he got a little bath to get the residue off)

maybe the reason your cat is unhealthy is because you have poor impulse control and dont think shit through.

i bet you feed your cat people food and shit like that "oh he loves hotdogs". just fucking doing whatever without researching the consequences. like a former friend of mine who fed his cat chocolate "my cat loves chocolate bro". chocolate is toxic to cats, i told him that, i showed him the proof. he just didnt want to believe it. the cat died. he blames "act of god" for the cats death. he reminds me of you op

>> No.65459

as I've said...he's healthy. he is an older gentleman, but healthy.

He looks weird because he is a devon rex. They have almost no fur, they're related to the hairless cats. Again: he's totally fine. His only health issues are because he is aging.

>I didn't want to risk him getting sick from licking at it.

so you admit there's some possibility he could get sick. because you realize non toxic doesnt mean safe to eat. and now you're gonna wash it off with warm water, thus likely spreading it on to his fur because water runs all over the place. where he will lick it off himself and get a bit of glue inside his delicate and fragile digestive system.

........Are you retarded? Like, seriously. I'm no fan of animal abuse, but I see nothing wrong with this. OP is being cautious about the glue, and the cat itself. The OP has already mentioned that he/she stops when Oskar isn't in the mood for it anymore, to keep him from getting stressed. As for glue, it's certainly better than taping it on. As long as hair isn't being pulled out, a quick wash will solve everything. There's a line between concerned, and just being anal about something, and you've clearly passed it.

the list of shit that is healthy for humans and unhealthy for cats is like a mile long. where does elmers glue fit on that list? nobody has bothered to look into it because nobody glues shit to their cats. so really, there is a small chance that it could be a minor problem, we just don't know.

>> No.65531

op here...really. he is fine. he is not eating glue. glue is not being left on him for extended periods of time. toxic stuff is not given to him. he does not eat people food, and is quite pampered.

He's a devon rex. they're high-maintenance animals compared to most cats. He eats better than most people; in order to keep his hair from breaking he gets conditioner rubs, organic foods, the works.

A few minutes of elmer's is not going to harm him. Unlike some of the paints used to prep animals for shows and crap- *shudders*

I do animal rescue work and fundraising, dude. I'm not going to hurt my cat. Just make him look ridiculous and take pictures of it.
