Hi again /diy/
I've been looking for a coolant system to wrap around a hot tube.

Pic related, what is this shit?
This wrapped around the tube in a coil fashion would work great, I found this out in my alley, no clue as to what it is.

TLDR; What is this crap called?

I would call it heatsink and I would build an altar for it.

Or solder it around the pipe in a helical fashion

looks like EMI RFI edge liner - you put it on one edge of a metal box, when you close the container it seals

This would be a perfect job for a metal caster, if you can find one willing to deal with you (online or locally, but I wouldn't count on the latter). Or you could just learn yourself.

Aluminum is a great heatsink material and it's also one of the easiest to cast. And it's readily available.

It's for a gun barrel, you can't use a gun underwater that well

Heat sink for barrel? Check out JP Enterprise

You can fire guns under water but it's the cartridge that's specially designed for underwater shooting. Check out APS

water cooled guns haven't been common since the early 1900's

OP, are you planning to fire a thousand rounds per minute?

because i dont think this will be terribly useful unless you have a belt fed machine gun. which should already have appropriate cooling.
