Hey guys, I heard there was a thread on here a while ago with schematics or designs for living in a van? Does anyone have them?
Also, general van-living thread.

I would like to point out for $25 that extinguisher aint gonna do shit. A token gesture perhaps.

Ive had a few car fires over the years (all racing so oil/fiberglass related) and ive taken to carrying atleast a 10kg extinguisher.

the sprinter 2500 is a mercedes and you wont find anything cheaper than $19,000ish for one. Wish there were some good schematics like this for a cargo van, like the ford econolines

awesome! I was looking for a thread exactly like this.

i'm planning on living in a van, but I don't have a big budget. is there any other cheap van that's good for living besides the VW kombi?

Last summer I went to Home Depot and two guys were modding a Sprinter in the parking lot into a camper/home. They were pretty cool. Had a couple beers with them. Turns out one of them recently came into a decent chunk of money and was going to drive around America and basically be a gypsy for a year or two.

My parents did this several years ago and have been living in it ever since. They winter in Mexico and come home to Canada for the summer. Theirs is a little more crowded with a tiny kitchen, bathroom with shower and 2 large dogs, but they love it.

If you can find one, i recommend a military surplus ambulance (pickup style, not a duece and half), or even a regular ambulance for that matter. They will typically already have auxillary heat and AC for the box in the back that can be run without the motor running, also they generally will have a connection to shore power (a way of connecting to an external electricity source) already there so they can run battery chargers and stuff to combat the drain from all of the equipment. Also they have a heavier duty electrical system compared to a regular van which will be very useful. Another bonus is that they can typically be found cheaply, leaving you money leftover for the conversion. There is also a pretty big community of enthusiasts who convert them to campers so there is alot of information available.

I live in a van during the school semester. Last semester I parked it on campus and did nothing but sleep in it. I would suggest getting a Chevy g20 as it looks more like a surfers van and less like a rape mobile. Also, it has a tv and a bed that folds a bench w 3 seats. Get yourself a sleeping bag and you are set to sleep in the winter.
