Hey guys
I have this zippo lighter that has some engraving on it, i was wondering if there was a way i could colour the engraved lettering to make it stand out more.

You know that sugru putty? Buy some and put/roll it over the lettering and it should stay in the cracks. Just wipe off the excess.

Epoxy paint or Enamel

Sugru is a piece of shit product, it turns brittle and pretty much to dust after about a week

modeling paint, its cheap and lasts forever

This. Humbrol modelling enamel or something. Paint over engraving, wipe off excess, bam.

If it is just for display, some India ink and a toothpick would do it.

More durable results require something made to stay on. Fingernail paint comes to mind, tough as nails.

That, I say, that's a joke, son.

This. Try to paint over the letters and wipe excess paint off.

/k/ommandoes use nail polish of desire color to make lettering more noticeable

>I almost wrote "pop" instead of "more noticeable"

a-am I gay?

>> No.503529

A lot of people color in the letters stamped on the side of their Glock pistols so its not as gay as you would think.

Pop is used in the graffiti community to describe if something is outstanding enough. I'd say you're pretty straight, son. Unless you like it up the bum.

On OP's problem, i'm with everyone else:
>Enamel paint and wipe off with a rag (while wet)
or
>Nail varnish and wipe off with a rag (while wet)

I got one of my groomsmen a lighter like that.

Yeah listen to this guy, he knows better than the 1000s of satisfied customers worldwide!

Pics or it didn't happen.

If you want the quick-and-dirty way, just get a permanent marker and go over all the lettering with it, then wipe off the excess on the upper surface.

Enamel would be better (longer-lasting) effect but it's harder to get it to look just 'so' on shallow engraved lines.

I don't really know much about it but would acid etching work? I have a similar job I want to do and that's one of the options in my head right now.

Yup!

Same principle, except a zippo instead of a safety razor. Stuff should look great for years... but if you're paranoid i guess you could do a clear coat too(Just wipe it off after a few seconds so it does not dry on the metal, since that would turn it hazy)
