Hey /diy/ I'm thinking of giving my bedroom an actual theme full with decorations and shit.

I'm not a very creative person, most of my life I've just had a neutral-solid color room with nothing on my walls, bed and that's it but now i want to decorate my bedroom with a cyberpunk theme.

So far all I have in mind is using LED strips as lighting and a modern style bed. Can you guys give some creative ideas to a non-creative person?

I did a 'theme' living room once. I can't find the pictures but I'll describe what I did.

The entire room was sheathed in corrugated steel walls. That shit you buy for tin roofing. Then for the ceiling I twisted up black garbage bags into ropy strands and stapled them up there in a random pattern. It looked really, really good. . . kind of like black ropy muscles. Very HR Giger.

In the center of the room I had a 3 inch clear vinyl tube coming down from the ceiling. It was filled with cabling and a blue rope light that pulsed in time with audio sounds. The cabling ran to a computer I built in a clear plastic case that I added a bunch of extra boards and LED lights to (just to make it look more complex). The computer was connected to the LCD screen on the wall for visual apps, playing videos, and of course TV. Incidentally the cabling up through the center of the ceiling was what started the whole project, because I needed to get the ethernet network cable upstairs and was too lazy to run the cabling through the wall like I should have.

Anyways, besides those things I also built a 10" around clear plastic tube that ran floor to ceiling. The top and base were constructed of some old test machines I got from a halted electronics suplly company. The tube was filled with water, and had a hidden fish tank pump and airstone at the bottom to fill it full of diffused bubbles. At the top there was a hidden rotating color wheel and light bulb so when turned on it lit the entire tube of bubbles with changing light colors.

Then in the corner I built a bar. Sides were covered in the same ropy garbage bags, along with clear vinyl tubes threading in and out that I pumped colored water through from a reservoir behind the bar. I made the pump suck a bit of air in so it included bubbles in the 'veins' as I called em.

Anyways, that was what I did. Probably took me 2 years to put it all together.

Oh, also all the furnishings were black leather and steel shit I figured worked with the theme. And some plants that were 'weird' like venus flytraps and some other shit I can't remember that looked alieny.

Before we can really help you - you've gotta give us more information. What are your hobbies? What do you spend a lot of time doing that you enjoy?

Once we have that, we can help begin designing a theme for you.

Paneling. It's a very industrial, very technical look. Combine it wit backlighting an you've got yourself a good piece.

If you have a lamp/light on your ceiling, put blacklight bulbs or colored bulbs in it and put a normal bulb in a desk lamp.

Also, use concealment ("hidden" drawers and minimalist shelves are good choices) to give your room both function and a sleek looks.

Perhaps this will help. It's pretty much just a cold cathode light bar, a stack of old used CD-Rs, and a housing holding it all together.

Another interesting thing you could do on the cheap is get a few sheets of plywood, screw a bunch of scavenged computer case panels to them, paint the whole damn thing primer gray, and just lean them up against the walls where ever they look good

Also, if you want to go full cyberpunk, you really should design the room around a computer desk, entertainment center, or some shit like that.

That said, it's not a bad use of space for a small room, if it were me I'd free up a little more space for eating at the table, have a bigger chaise for dem cuddle sessions, some direct lighting for dem prints on the wall and a good 2 channel hifi; shit would be cash enough to bump it up to a 10/10 room
