So, I moved into my new house in may and we discovered we have a old as hell rusted out boiler that's empty. Land lord just recently said we can do what we want with it. I don't think we can move it out of the basement, but I wanted to keep it in the basement for a specific reason. I want to grow plants in it. So since this is a do it yourself board, I figured you guys would have some ideas to bat around the cage with me.

My first three ideas are : simply get a metal cutter, cut a 4x4 square in the back, make into a door with a lock. Then after that outfit the inside like a grow tent or stealth grow type of system.

I do not want to limit this boilers potential thou, my other ideas are

Clean it as well as I can and attempt to move it and then either make it into art, a garden accessory, or attempt to sell it.

My last idea with it is......to make it into a moonshine stil or micro brewing device for beer.

Again, I'm not a native here and I am ignorant. O /diy/, will you help me?

Well yea that's ideal, but it's complicated as hell to find a metal cutter, isn't it?

growbox sounds good, but id make the door bigger than 4x4, you will need to access it daily.
also make additional holes for venting and fresh air intake, aswell as electrical wiring.
i hope you know how to cut that kinda metal properly, its likely pretty thick.

Op here, well should I make it like, 5x5? The boiler is at max 6 feet high and 6 feet long and a area of I would guess like 4 feet. I'll measure when home

Did you see the picture I first posted? It's a rused out as hell semi thick old boiler. I ts hard I would assume to get a metal cutter that can handle that, also I would have to be careful of the rust scraps of metal.
