You have two options; in the middle of the forehead directly between the eyes, aiming so the bullet enters the brain cavity, or directly behind the ear into the brain cavity.

My family used to raise and sometimes slaughter goats, and this is how we did it with our .22 rifle.

I use a captive bolt gun, but I slaughter for local farmers. If you are just going to shoot it, the back of the head is fine, just choose some sweet hay or alfalfa, make a small pile of it in front of the goat and when it leans down to eat, while standing behind and to the side of it shoot it in the back of the head, base of the skull where the skull meets the neck, aiming down towards the center of the face, the spine severs and the base of the brain is destroyed. If you do it right, the goat barely moves more then a few inches forward as it collapses, try to wait till it's got it's mouth full and is relaxed focused on eating.

as an aside, please don't make the animal suffer more then it needs to, the adrenalin ruins the meat's flavor.
