South African here 220v 50Hz

I want to convert to my house lighting to use LEDs powered by solar.
I have two options -
Solar charger , battery, 12v LED lamps (Efficient but higher current over long cable runs could lead to energy losses)
or
Solar charger, battery, interter, 220v LED lamps (inefficient DC to AC conversion but lower current over cables and less hassle and expense swopping out existing fitting.

Dc losses over in home wiring is insignificant. Power companies have to use ac for distribution and feeder, but over a couple hundred feet dc would be fine

each 220V lamp has its own AC-DC converter which is even more inefficient than the single big inverter you would have. Just go straight DC
