hello and good evening
I wish to build a small house that can survive the pressures of being under 12 feet of dirt
and thin put a mound of dirt (12 feet deep all over) on top of said house.

why?
Because fuck yeah
thats why

Grass seed and hay are cheap and at any hardware store. Sod is more expensive and not as good but its quicker.

I lay sod professionally. Its easy to get grass. Here's what you do. Find a church in your city, one with a nice lawn. Sneek up and with your exacto knife, cut out a square of grass, roll it up, hide it under your coat and walk walk away.

Wouldn't that require holes through the pipe?

>> No.397698 [DELETED]

You I'll the pipe out before applying the tape and attaching it to a gun.... Looks like the pipe just gives you something convenient to wrap the steel wool around before putting it in the bottle....

/k/ommando operator here, wanna do some inna woods shed. could i use similar tech or start new thread?

>> No.397819

>>397787
Well....
sure come join use
the tech is similar but you won't need to worry about lateral pressure so the walls will be thinner and less support is needed

Remember "Little House on the Prairie"? Go to your local library and read the first book in the series "Little House on Plum Creek" I think it was. It gives detailed instructions on how to build a sod house, which is what you are describing.

It's a 1st hand account of an actual prairie settler. You're not going to find a more authentic account than that.

12 feet of dirt might be a bit much. You might consider dome construction which will be most efficient for distributing the load of the soil. The roundness will fit with your hobbit theme too.

I've been wanting something similar. So far my best idea has been to build a neff bubble house (NBH) and cover it with dirt, then lay down a layer of grass to prevent soil erosion.

A NBH is constructed by building a large dome shaped balloon and spraying concrete onto it. You then reinforce the concrete with rebar and spray another layer of concrete over the top of this.

It should be able to support a lot of weight thanks to the dome shape and it has the added benefit of being incredibly resistant to natural disasters.

I've got a lot of ideas and I've been meaning to post them on /diy/, but I haven't been able to get my lazy butt to commit them to paper.

Is it, "on the banks of plum creek"?

>> No.398129

seems like if you are going for dome then super adobe or hyper adobe would be a better choice...

>> No.398537

sew heavyduty tarps into dome inflate it with a blower, like a bounce house cover in chicken wire and coat with concrete, make sure you dont make the first coating too heavy so you dont collapse the air dome. after it drys attach rebar bent and welded together and put in the ground some then cover in more concrete 4- 6 inches thick
