I actually witnessed the funniest thread I've ever seen on 4chan, on /ck/... of all places.
Dude tried to pan-fry a frozen pizza and it burst into flames. What made it great was him taking pics of the whole process (flames included) and his utter shock at the outcome.

Hmm heres some hella easy thing to do:

Gelatinous rice balls (has alot of names in Asia, japs called it mochi):
>Need 2 things: rice flour and red bean paste
>mix rice flour with water till its a workable dough, the ratio will not really affect the taste or texture, it just makes it more workable when rolling them in to balls
>roll rice flour dough into a ball then make a log then cut small ball size segments. Like maki sushi rolls-size.
>flatten the ball segments and fill with enough redbean paste in the middle.
>wrap dough around it and mold it into a ball

to cook it:
>boil water in a pan enough to submerge balls add a pinch of salt
>dump GRBs slowly
>when they float they are ready
>make sure they dont stick to the bottom of the pan since they wont float that way

Also I dont really know where to get rice flour but you can make them yourself by soaking uncooked sticky rice in water overnight, then air dry it then mill/grind it to a flour.

You should find red bean paste in an asian department of your grocery store. You can also substitute some crushed nuts with peanut butter, or w/e.

but pretty much instead of making them.. when you can find a red bean paste in a grocery store, chances are they carry ready to cook frozen GRBs. Which is like $2 a dozen.

Also there are many ways to serve it. Traditionally its served with soup. But I eat it as is when removed from the pot. A little moist and steamy.

Actually mochi (when properly made, only a few markets outsource to confectionary shops that make it properly) starts of with cooked rice that is pounded with a giant hammer to make it. Mochiko is used for dango, although because of its remarkable similarity to mochi it is used as a mochi substitute.

wut
>pounding cooked rice = tradition and fucking labor intensive
>using rice flour = modern and easier

There is little difference in making mochi from flour or from ground cooked rice. The difference is the aroma. Rice tends to pick up scents or flavors too easily that you can smell the worker's scent through them. Gross huh.

The headphone thread can go straight to /mu/, the technology one to /g/, another to /po/, the vehicle related one should be on /o/, the one about knives on /k/, and you should be on /b/ instead of shitting up this board with complaining.
