this does not work for shit. get one of those later soviet gas mask (40mm filter thread) and buy a HEPA filter, and rock out at protests. the older filters will mostly work, but you can never be too sure.

also wear those fluffy inlaid solderer's gloves when gladly returning CN bombs to cops, and always move in pairs or larger groups during the shitstorm of the protest. and always carry a water spray with bicarbonate solution for mitigating the irritant gasses: if you're the guy with the mask, you instantly become the medic. lend a hand to a friend.

maybe you could device a smoke bomb or two as described many times in /diy/ and use it to cover your retreat and/or buid a barricade discretely. oh yeah, use old car tires for those, cops seem to hate them.

also, unless he's a confirmed asshole, make a difference between the "cop-individual" and the "police officer-institution": strive not to hurt, maim or kill anyone. ultimately, do remember that the "police" are above all a military institution devised to exert political power in its physical manifestation towards those individual bodies that very same institution intends to protect, so expect military tactics and don't be a hero.

i tried it and it won't work. it will break the glass but you'll get a jagged edge with alot of cracks. i guess it's ok if you sand it down but thats alot of sanding. better method in this video but you have to buy that cutter thing. the score focuses all the stress from the heat on the crack so that the cut is smooth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOutjiQFN_s you can also alternatevly alternate running cold and boiling water over the crack until it comes apart.
