I work in an Auto shop. I have no idea how so many people have trouble with these. Its like $15 for an entire set.

>But im only going to use it once or twice.

Fine drill it out. Have fun with that.

Fuck I hate my customers.

Where I live, you can't find a place that sells security bits of any kind, including torx. I have to order online to get them.

Just buy a goddamn torx driver, they're not expensive!

This thread.

Except for >>298245, >>298237, and >>298196 which are the correct answers. You can also make your own torx to fit from a screwdriver and a dremel/file

>> No.298370

You can't do-it-yourself if you don't have tools.

>> No.298390

Torx isn't "security" -- it's becoming pretty standard and it's not a bad design.

It's worth investing in a set of these if you're going to do mechanical DIY.

>> No.298412

>>298370
Sure you can. You make the tools.

>> No.298429

Where does that rabbit hole end though?

If you follow that line of thought to it's conclusion you're using edged stone tools to chop wood and somehow finding metal ore of some kind so that you can make subpar metal tools and work your way up to better ones. Any sort of drill (even antique style ones) would likely be outside of your reach and doing anything would take you forever.

And even then it's invalidated because you looked online on a goddamn computer to see what you needed to do and are living in a house made with modern tools.

I think it's reasonable to buy tools.

>>298429

No, you have to do it like Minecraft and punch a fucking tree with your bare hands, build a axe made of wood, and then dig up some stone (sidewalk pavement maybe?) and then make a pickaxe. You don't have to buy anything, you see.
