ever heard of a lock?
they usually come with keys
that you can use when you are in close proximity to the door to, big surprise, lock the door
or you could nail a bolt to it and the wall and move on

what seems to be the problem here? you can't possibly be so dense as to need a locking mechanism on your door without coming to the conclusion of buying a locking door knob.

my bank gave me this when I opened an account. it's a portable door lock that you fit on the inside of the door. it requires a bit of skill to use, but works fine on most doors. being portable, it doesnt damage the door or frame, and you can take it with you when you circle jerk with your buddies.

dunno about source, it was meant as a novelty key ring.
the way it works is you put the two pieces in a straight line, insert the wire loop into the hole in the door strike as you close the door. then you swivel the metal bar to 90-degrees, like in the pic, so that it's catching both the door and the door frame.
