You're cable management makes my eyes blister and burn and melt and run down my face like twin waterfalls of woe. But overall build seems sound.

Why do you need two DVD burners? Do you really have burning needs that extensive?

i7 for no good reason

Retarded choice in graphics card. Old, budget-line card which can be beaten by almost any reasonable modern card. Thus, the overpriced CPU is wasted.

Cheaped out on motherboard, so whole system suffers
Tiny SSD
Shit-tier storage drive
Please don't tell me you payed cyberlink for their awful software...

Also: nigger

Just for laughs, I shoppingcart-built a competing system...
For $953 a LIAN LI Lancool case with better design and cooling than your raidmax shit, a Gigabyte GA-Z69X motherboard, 6870 graphics, Barracuda 1TB storage with 64mb cache, 16gb corsair DDR3 1866 cl9, i5 Ivybridge 3.4ghz (still overkill for this rig, and OC-able with the ram), Samsung 830 128gb SSD, and dual DVD burners which you must want for some reason. Oh, and a Seasonic 520w 80+ modular power supply to cure your cable management woes.

Is this supposed to be some sort of accomplishment? I buildt my first computer when i was 10

>> No.287512

wtf, like everyone else here is wondering, that i7 and the fermi????? deciding to spend 900+ on a diy setup and shiting up that is pure retard. Do yourself a solid, sell the i7, grab a i5 and radeon hd 7850. GPUs make a hell of a lot more impact on gaming, even cpu intensive ones, after you've got a decent quad core in it.

Its funny, because I'm planning a custom build right now, and even as it is I'm spend less than half of what you are and getting way more out of it.

can you explain this? my computer cost me around 1600 dollars (built it myself) and thats without the windows 7 ultimate that I have. How can you build a (gaming) computer for ~$450?
I thought I was saving money by building mine myself, but I guess I bought overpriced parts? (my computer can run prety much everything at the highest settings, bought about 2 years ago)

>> No.287571

>>286974

TBH op, you fucked up. Alot. That video card is shit, that processor is overkill, too small of a hard drive. Don't know why you bought your os and ms office... You can pirate win7 and purchase later, and use openoffice instead of microsoft office (it's literally just as good). Could have saved yourself alot of money, or have gotten better components for same price. You'll be lucky if you can run games on medium with that shit gpu.

For 900 it's not bad, but you could have got a lot more bang for your buck.

But it's still fine, don't listen to the "lol jewtel" and "HOUSEFIRE GPU" faggots (Coming from an exclusively AMD user)

Ivy's unlocked processors have higher heat when OC'd and doesn't have a security feature the Sandy processors had.

The performance difference is literally within 5%, the margin of error makes it negligible over sandy which can do more better.

OP you seriously fucked up.

Ivy has higher thermal density, which naturally leads to higher temps. They also cheaped out on the thermal interface for the heat spreader, which didn't help.

As a performance processor Ivy is a bit lackluster compared to Sandy Bridge.

No PCI-E 3.0 on Sandy, though.

>> No.287786

That case has cable routing options. Use them.

OCZ memory products are horrible. I don't have first-hand experience with their power supplies but would not expect excellence there either. OCZ SSDs are not reliable and if you run Windows off one, you'll experience lockups.

An i7 is completely pointless unless you frequently run demanding and HT-aware applications like simulation or encoding software. An i5 is literally the same product without a HT feature you'll never use.

I'm not sure I understand why you bought an enterprise-class hard drive meant for data centers. Kind of defeats the purpose if it's not in a high availability array.

That video card is outdated and outperformed by newer cards that are both cheaper and more energy efficient.

Should have saved more money to buy good components. Im spending 1250 on current gen, high quality parts.
