I have yet to replace the bridge/nut on my acoustic. I can probably keep the bridge, but the nut is fucked.

how do you measure/set your string height? One tip I've heard is to press on fret 3, and the string should barely hover over fret 1. That doesn't tell me how to set the bridge though...

So far today I have cleaned and checked the valve lifters in my new(ish) cylinder head - all good! Later today I will prepare my head's mating surfaces. Tomorrow, if the weather in my shedless work environment permits, I install.

I'm going to (attempt) to fix the finish on the guitar I'm building. I used a shitty quality polishing pad to try and buff it and stripped the finish in some places. I'm going to apply lacquer with a brush over the areas that were stripped, sand it back, then spray it down with more lacquer to even out the coat. Is there any reason this won't work?

The weather was tolerable!

Today I have installed the new(ish) head, camshaft and related bits, and the new timing belt.

Tomorrow, pulleys and new drivebelts, will be installed. The manifolds will be refitted. Various fluids will be applied. Electrical stuff will be rewired.

The ignition key will be turned.
