When has getting something repaired professionally ever been cheaper than doing it yourself? Anyway, I can return the wrench and socket and get my money back for that when I'm done.

I'm not the OP, but I am a liberal. I would like to say that not all liberals are like that.

Personally, I own a decent amount of tools, but nothing too fancy. Enough to do basic woodworking and minor car maintenance, like changing oil, transmission fluid or replacing/gapping spark plugs.

Fuck you. You needed it. You used it. You own it. Fucks sake, how can you, in the years stretching out in front of you, never see a need for a socket set? I don't use mine daily, or even monthly, but when I need it, it's there. And that's invaluable at say 11pm when your washer won't drain.

second hand stores (i.e. Goodwill) often have random collections of sockets you can buy individually, they also wont differentiate on quality typically all the same price (cheaper than anything mentioned so far) . And if you don't live in a city with a bike co-op maybe you should start one.
