Okay /diy/ I have an older model Dell Laptop that has a screen that is literally falling apart. HOWEVER, all of the hardware works fine, its just that the case is falling apart. So, I would like to turn this into something cool. Any ideas on a case design or something creative to do with it?

I will post pictures of the actual laptop in the following posts (Camera is currently not wanting to connect to my current laptop.)

Keep in mind that I don't have the money to do anything too elaborate, and the design does not have to be portable. Anyways, any and all suggestions are welcome. Once I start work I will post worklogs here (Or make another thread if this one 404s)

Thanks in advance for all help! ^_^

You should embed it into a table or desk, or make some kind of bedtime computer with monitor and keyboard on movable support arms.

I have a similar situation and wanted to put it in between 2 subs in my trunk but ventilation became an issue and I never got around that

What I was originally considering is turning it into a media controller for the house. I was thinking have it mounted on the wall with everything behind the screen (Essentially put the screen where the keyboard would be, and have a wireless keyboard for it. But what I need the most help with is ideas for the case.

Mount near the toilet.

that would be cool, you could just cut out about 2 or 3 layers of sheet rock and put the computer on there, then mount the whole thing on a wall and frame it like you would a window. though Im not sure what you could do about the fan that wont overheat it

I wouldn't have to cut anything, If I just mount it to the wall, it will only be about 2 inches from the wall. I would end up putting it next to our entertainment system so those two inches wouldn't be THAT big of a deal.

Oooh, What I COULD do is make the entire thing touch screen. I'd probably have to put a little more effort into securing it though.

submergino it into the wall would be cool and ventialtion would also not be the problem if you use a larger hole, tubes for the hot air, and a larger front cover like made of aluminum, SHIT WOULD LOOK LIKE STAR TREK DUDE
