DIY ideas that are so fucking simple and useful you wonder why the fuck you didn't think of it yourself. Or, alternatively, "feminine" crafts?

You guys seem more accepting of this kind of stuff, and I'm a sewer with a crafting bug. We all know /fa/ is absolutely useless, so I'm hoping I might find a place here. I might not work with chainsaws, but I know the inside-out of a sewing machine.

I'm just saying, with rumors of Nikola Tesla and Adam and Jamie as possible monthly saints, I'm in love.

>I might not work with chainsaws, but I know the inside-out of a sewing machine.
I submit that you have overestimated the complexities of the former.

<— The only trick here is to heat the key a little so it doesn't break. Keys tend to be on the brittle side.

That design of bookmark is poor. To move out of way from text you need to remove it, which is slightly more awkward than a traditional bookmark, and if the book then closes you've lost your place, unlike the traditional flip. It also stands out less for finding the place again, doesn't work near as well as an aid for opening the precice page, and has a much higher risk of damaging the book (specifically dogging) than traditional.

tl;dr - don't reinvent the wheel

cute, but not well engineered.

I'm not against DIY, why would I be here.....by all means make your own bookmarks, I'm just saying that's a bad design. It'd still be a bad design if you bought it in a shop.

I don't know what sorts of bookmarks you're using, but I have to take the bookmark out when I start reading or it gets in the way of the text. A normal vertical bookmark has the same flaws as this one. I'm willing to spend an extra two seconds sliding this bookmark onto and off of the corner of a page if it means I get to use a sweet monster book mark.

wouldnt this cease to glow after a while? Then you'd have a useless jar.

>> No.32537

>>32480
moar leik a jar that no longer holds a chemical reaction; then you'd dispose of the contents in a seal-able bag, then do it again

if you got tired of repeating just clean the jar with bleach or something after thoroughly rinsing with hot water

>> No.32543

Or you could use glow in the dark paint instead. Then it would always be able to glow.

Ugh... if only I had a camera...

Oh wow, I was already considering making an empty-jar chandelier, but now that I realise I can splatter glow in the dark paint on it and it will look that pretty I just have to make it.

But then how do you find the book you want to read?

I bought a book a while ago about puzzles and how to make them. The text is in Dutch, but the pictures should speak for themselves.

I really want this chalkboard paint stuff.
Does it work on shoes and fabrics

they would definitely lose their flexibility, and you wouldn't be able to wash them

>> No.34063

Well I guess that's alright.
Really thinking about just taking a t-shirt and painting some chalkboard paint in a square on the center.
Having it say something like "Draw on Me" or something else cleverly interactive

>> No.34193

>>34063
Yeah, just hand wash it if that's the case..

You could always make a square with a zipper around it, or snap on buttons, and paint the square so you can remove it and wash the shirt.

Cousin has these, they're brilliant for storing small things.

>>28223
Wow, those look pretty neat, it's a shame I'm not a picture person though.

>>28238
I'm going to have to start using this, just need to go get some magnets. My trash can is infuriating, bags are either too small or much too large.

>>29486
That's pretty great.

I've seen people just use pegboard underneath the desk or on the back of the desk and zip tie stuff to it, was marvelous and everything was easily moved.

>>29519
My mind is full of fuck, next time I stack soda/beer I'm remembering this.

>>29523
I'd be skeptical about putting any lid of sorts on that, if it's safe and others have tried it though this would look badass in my front yard these holidays.

>>29528
Shame I use the energy saving ones instead.

>>29534
Great way to recycle, but I always lose those things!

Looks sexy, but who keeps so many books that are the exact same size?

>>32642
Saw this book or one just like it at Barnes and Noble a few years back, was some interesting stuff.

take an old broom handle or the equivilant, cut a section about 8"-12" long, cut a deep groove about an inche from each end.

I've seen Alton Brown use both magnets and velcro to store his spices on Good Eats. fuck, I'm sad that show's ending. my family's been making brined turkey in a paint bucket for years now. (I didn't in 2008 because I was recovering from a c-section and couldn't fly home. I just baked it with butter and seasoning under and over the skin and later tossed in a few legs I bought on sale Thanksgiving morning at clearance prices.)
