Powerwashing my deck tomorrow, I borrowed a 2700 PSI power washer from a good friend of mine. What can I use as a soap to get some of the grime of the deck, or will it be fine just using the water?

well you can hose the soap on everything to loosen all the grim and then get close with the pressure washer.

in my case, my patio is concrete. I get really close and just let the water do its work. no need for soap there.

you'll find out op

2700 psi.
Do I need soap
Unless your deck was made with untreated wood and has internal damage from bugs-
Imagine that the power washer is the voice of captain falcon. The water is the punch, and you are falcon.
Falcon punch that shit right off.
Make sure you don't use a tight nozzle cause that can cut through concrete. Yeeaaaah :|

Neat. But, are you really going to be spraying that close?

He's right. Decent pressure washers got no problem blowing chunks out of quickrete or other shit mixes of concrete.

Even if it is good concrete you can mess up the surface if you're not careful.

Water + ridiculously large amounts of pressure = enough force to do anything.

It's fucking science.

Your concern shouldn't be about getting the deck clean so much as not damaging the wood - or at least making sure the layer you scour off is even.

That much pressure should do it, my dad accidentally stripped the paint off of his garage door when he wasn't paying attention one day, my nephew did the same to his car door. Still, if you're worried about some really nasty grime spots, mix up a borax paste and use that to scrub the bad spots. Good luck.
