americans build thier houses out of big garden sheds, some of them are concerned about how that looks and build single brick walls around the outside, obviously when built with a very light timber frame, this brick covering offers no structural or insualation value, it infact compromises the structure, but the superficial value is whats most important to the american, so any problems like it falling over is a small price to pay.

the way i heard it, probably an old wives' tale, is that it's because electric lighting was a thing before domestic power (for appliances and such) was a thing. so the lights came from one supply and the domestic power, if it was fitted, was a more expensive separate supply. either way, german bombs and the passage of time made it all moot anyway.

(the modern equivalent being, my parents' house was built in 1995 and was wired with two phone connections, one for the internet and one for landline phone use. one of course is obsolete now that broadband is a thing. i've no idea if they're paying two line rental charges or something these days, wouldn't surprise me)

if you said it was made by King Louis X (or whoever) people could contextualise the decor as having been fancy and well-looked-after enough to survive from their time to ours. rather than having come from the big orange idiot too dumb to make money from running casinos (or, more likely, from a subcontractor he failed to pay).

I work in tax at a CPA firm, and I've only seen one guy who consistently makes money flipping houses. He has a regular job, but spends a huge amount of his free time rehabbing shit houses because he loves doing the repair work so much. He'd probably still do it if he didn't make any money.

The secret to flipping is to do all the work you can legally do yourself by yourself. Contracting out stuff just gobbles up potential profits.

The aerial perspective fog contributes to that effect, makes interiors look huge as all outdoors or St. Peters or whatever, which looks strange when it's not ornate as real things like it usually are.

Because he isn't a good business man! He routinely defaults on loans, defrauds people, and produces shitty products. He cheats on his taxes too but if a company isn't cheating on their taxes they are either amazing or out of business so I don't blame him there. People use the casino as an example because it isn't a hard business to make money with if you have the starting capitol and a brand like his. He is great at fleecing the kind of people who think gold=fancy and that is exactly the crowd that goes to Atlantic City casinos. Yet somehow it went tits up. If the field is fertile, and the seed good, then maybe the farmer fucked up.

At least that has big opening doorways/windows so you can air it out.
I used to work at a hotel which had an indoor pool on the ground floor with only normal house windows to open for ventilation (very old hotel, Victorian design).
Shit was especially retarded since we were in 1km above sea level and it was only hot enough for swimming one or two months of the year.
