What's this hole for?

Can someone break into my house using this?

Only if you didn't bother with having a deabolt, which is the other item shown in the photo.
Most door knobs are wickedly easy to destroy for access. A sledgehammer and a screwdriver are all you need for relatively expedient access. Deadbolts however require picking the lock or busting the doorframe itself.

I've seen enough lock picking lawyer on YouTube to tell you that yes, you will die in your sleep very soon due to a burglary gone wrong.

Shove a pin or thin rod in to depress a catch to remove the knob.

It’s either for oiling the handle, or should be facing the floor so any water can escape, not sure which one.

Even if you remove the doorknob you shouldnt be able to unlock it easily.

yeah I get if you've got lock picking knowledge it's easy to get into alot of things but the vast majority of criminals don't bother with learning how to pick locks or even carry the proper tools

It's to remove the knob so you can re-key the lock. The inside knob can be removed just by pushing the small button inside the hole.

The outer knob, however, cannot be removed without the cylinder being rotated, meaning you need either the correct key or to pick the lock in order to take of the knob. In either event, the hole is the least of your worries.

People can enter your house by braking a window.

This was my dads argument when I was upgrading my house lock cylinders to higher spec... If someone breaks a window it will make a noise, not the same with picking locks.

Now that you bring it up, a door alarm is probably a good idea. Arm it at night
