is there anyway to get instructables site pdf downloads other than going pro? pic kinda unrelated

The PDF is nothing more than what you already have available. It merely puts it in PDF format.

You can still download the webpage. Here is what I do,

Go to one of their pages,

http://www.instructables.com/id/Controlling-the-Inrush-Current-Required-by-Large-T/

Then I click on the "View All Steps on One Page" button that is to the left of the PDF button, just under the title of the instructable. It should then show all the steps. On my browser I click File>Save Page As and select a place to download it to. Once that is done I manually save any extra images in each step to the same place. Alternatively, you can use a webcrawler to do this for you and have it go one layer deep.

You can also torrent everything.
