I seriously can't stand how expensive these things are because they all come with stoves, AC units, solar panels, toilets etc and cost $10K+ for a bunch of bullshit I don't want.

I've tried looking and I can't find any kits that will just ship me pre-cut aluminum or fiberglass panels I can just screw and bolt together on a frame and call it done and let me furnish the rest.

I just want something like size related that I can throw a bed into and storage. No bells or whistles.

They are all made out of square tube steel, cut and weld it yourself, put wheel
hubs, hitch and axel on it. The vertical part has bends for roof, so you need a pipe bender. Why do you need someone to ship you 500lbs of steel you could buy at Depot

Oh, is that all there is too it? What happens when his shitty A Team car battery welds break and he kills a family wish this shit heap? You also left out the 72 photographs of it, paperwork, and sucking the DMVs dick to get it registered.

How much is your time worth and how many tools do you have. If you think "$10k" is a lot for a livable space then you're really naive.

rules might differ around the world, but its the frame, axle, brakes, lights that kind off stuff they care about here. what you put on top of it is not the concern of any officials as long as its goes within weight/width/heigh specifications and its secured properly. you can put a shed on a trailer and strap it down after all, they cant deny you to "transport a shed" thats buildt of steeltube, aluminium and fiberglass if you want to.

Tongue weight limits are actually important to avoid overloading the rear axle on the tow vehicle.

I built a teardrop on a boat trailer. Registered the trailer for a tag. Camper made of aluminum used to make screen patio enclosures I was able to source from good friend that does that. Made mostly of 2"x2" square. Lots of brackets tek screws and thousands of pop rivets. The skin sheet came from diswasher front panels at a place I worked. Each d/w had 2 panels so 4 front colors to choose. I removed hundreds of the unused ones. Will put up pics if I am not range banned.

That thing doesn't look like it weighs much, and from the picture probably the only thing inside it would be a weekend supply of soi. Easily towable with a Fiat 500.

Just design and build your own teardrop. I bought a 5x8 kit trailer from Noethern Tool and built a wood frame trailer on top of that.

I was gonna get the harbor freight trailer fixed trailer and do something similar.

How much did you end up spending total? Was it worth it vs just buying a cheap 70s or 80s rv?

The only reason you want a kit is saving a few dollars.

Yet you should ask for a bare camper/trailer sporting plumbing, electric and solar in place, everything other (interior) to be customized.

That will save you lots of headaches. And it won't wreck itself the second day you hit the road.

I refuse to finance or spend nearly a 1/5th of my annual income on something that I'll use maybe half a dozen times a year.

A steel/aluminum/fiberglass box on a single axle can't be more then $2K to manufacture.

Funny enough im a welder by trade, but in my state it is a bitch to get the fucking thing approved by DOT.

Im thinking more on it, its less work just to buy pic related and convert it.

It's pretty robust, has regular wood framing in the walls with 1" foam board insulation. Floor has 2x4 framing underneath and bolted to the trailer, everything screwed to the frame.
Registration was easy in ca because its size its considered a utility trailer, and if you buy a kit trailer it has all the paperwork and comes with a vin ready for dmv inspection.

Part of the trailer experience is to feel like you're home.

If you want bare bones just toss an air mattress and a duffel bag in the back of your truck ffs.

You didn't read the OP.

The closest you will find to that is a utility trailer. An empty box on wheels that will allow you to customize to your heart's content. Short of scratch building a trailer, of course.
