Just found this today. Was working in a church and someone rigged a Lionel train control to control the bell system. What really got me is that they spliced a wire from an old strip plug into one with a ground and then that one into a 277v switch.

You and the OP are ignorant.
That jbox on a cord is probably going to a generator, they pushed in the wire tags just do they could have some temp power in portions of the house, as you'll also notice that the Mains aren't connected in the panel.

Completely normal.

Namefags get the rope and so do niggers who shove wires into receptacles designed to take plug blades. The acceptable "retard's generator hookup" would be a box on an extension cord with a couple of bus bars in it so you can properly screw down the wires. Then wires can't fall out or make an intermittent (arcing) connection. The setup in the pic screams literally illiterate laborer logic.

Once saw a Toyota truck jacked up and one rear wheel remove with just a rim and a rope tied to the rim. Want cement two stories up wrap the rope around a 4×4 box to a reel three stories up made out of bamboo. Put the truck in drive and push the gas up it goes. Underground hot water line melts through or touches black hot wire in wall. 30 to 60 amp circuit. Electricity flows through HW tank to grounded gas line. Too much resistance in pipe dope fittings to completely ground out but enough to heat crappy gas flex line. I have seen one of those gas flex lines in an attic that had a 12 inch forever flame coming off it. I would guess it was hit by lightning. Maybe through the old cast iron plumbing vent pipe nearby. I was doing HVAC and the old lady could not climb my ladder to look at it and she thought I was scamming her because she had no idea what I was telling her. On another occasion someone had a forever fire burning behind their stove in the kitchen. They had connected a flair flex pipe directly to the iron gas pipe without the flair adapter. When they smelled the gas they lit the gas leak so the house would not explode. It was like that for months until I showed up to work on the furnace.

the "problem" you describe only manifests if the homeowner is negligent with property maintenance and allows loose-fitting receptacles to remain in use -- loose connection between plug blade and outlet slot might have enough resistance to start a fire, but even that is less common than you seem to think. the place where the wire is attached to the plug blade is surrounded by thick hard rubber insulation, the only ones I've seen malfunction and melt the plug were old (50s/60s extension cords and small kitchen appliances, toasters and such).

Well. I for one did valiantly try to drill a hole for a gas line to where my cooking range would eventually go. From the annex through the former exterior wall. 60cm thicc. Now I could have hooked up the plumber's core drill to a water line and might have gotten through that way but somehow I wasn't too keen on that sort of mess right after I'd finished swapping out all the bathroom fixtures...

>>1739120

This is not going to cut through 40cm of granite. Somehow I don't think there's extension bars for it...

Also, spins way too fast for granite. That diamond coating ain't gonna last long. Slow spin and lots of cooling/lubricating water is going to do it. But as I said, that makes one hell of a mess.

Yes, you generally need to evacuate and cool such boreholes because really you're grinding and the "chip" removes a lot less heat than is generated. You can also go like 1/8th of an inch at a time and use suction down the bore, letting everything cool before starting again. Going wet is far more effective though.

Wind loading on head frames or a tower extension by itself isn't too bad, when you load them up with a lot of panel and dish antennas though it'll be quite a considerable sail area and turbulence.
Also the other reason to use more bolts is that it distributes the load better and for redundancy, losing one bolt out of 20 isn't so bad, but 1-6 is verging on catastrophe as its now throwing even more load onto the remaining fasteners.

Always wanted a device I could use to test overload conditions. Stick it in an outlet and have it apply a constant current load of 12-70A for a few seconds. Just that one tile, or is it like that all over the floor?

This sort of thing can be unavoidable in some circumstances. Those circumstances being shit tile and a hard deadline. Folks think every tile is exactly the same size, every time. They aren't. In a good product the variance from largest to smallest tile in a run will be no more than 1/32 of an inch. But I've seen stuff that was easily 5/32 of variance. There's only so much you can do at that point, especially with a hard deadline not giving you time to shave down larger tiles, or get more material so you can just avoid the outsize tiles altogether.

All that said, something like this is usually lazy fuckery.

Cover your license plates, pull up outside the recycle center's gates after business hours and just leave it on the curb.

I secretly hope that given enough proof, the recycling crowd will finally learn that making garbage disposal ever harder, more expensive and/or criminal only leads to people just dumping shit wherever nobody's looking. You would be surprised at how many of these still exist. The long shot AT&T and SPRINT (which for those that don't know stands for Southern Pacific Railroad Internal Network Telecommunications) before they started growing into cell.

Most of this stuff is in shitsville locations. Mountains, crap terrain, and remote areas. Still quite a bit in cities where there is no leased lines available.

The new stuff is really cool. No more flyswatter antennas. No more refrigerator sized microwave systems. The ODU stuff is teeny tiny (cept for the dishes). Cambium, Alcatel, Harris?, Nokia, and others. Best of all, NO FUCKING WAVEGUIDE unless it's a really high power site.

This is the inside part of a Nokia unit. This can handle most sites! They have a larger one for major hubs.
