Years back, I acquired a bunch of thicc MDF office furniture and have been using it while too broke for nicer stuff. I recently got around to cutting and rearranging all the pieces to be the most space efficient in the room I'm renting, and am now left with some spare pieces, including the sturdy little nook in pic related. So, I'm considering placing the nook around my PC (with the open side away from the wall) so I can stack my printer up there and free up some more desk space. Got a couple questions though:

1. Will that setup be hideous and the material better used for shelves or some shit?
2. Should I cut large openings in front of the vents and cover them in something breathy, or drill a bunch of small holes (and maybe still cover them)?

why would you need to cover the cutouts in the first place?
If youre looking to maintain rigidity just make a cross brace going diagonal through the cutout. Otherwise its unnecessary

I just like to keep the geometry of my stuff as simple-looking as possible, but now that I think of it I might as well just mount a small shelf above the case

Thank you for noticing! Top screen is a mid-size 1080p TV mirroring the laptop on the bottom (that's only there to run needy-ass Chrome when I play newer games) when I watch shit in bed.

I actually just ended up using the nook as a small shelf in the other corner of my room :^( , can't wait until I can afford nice wood and a truck to haul it so I can completely renovate the whole room though
