Not gonna lie, that looks like it's a nice started set for someone moving out of the house, student room, etc..

Also, the vid is equal parts cringe and fire. I respect that.

Sure, it's catch-all, so it won't be the best tools individually, but I dig what they're doing. Slap this in the cartrunk and you have yourself a nice bit of kit that beats the regular toolbox.

499 is a bit steep though.

I saw that box, or another brand that is the same shit (I remember somebody posting a video of a black and green one) and it’s neat.

But all-in-one stuff is always mediocre at any one job, and you can get a fuckhueg Ryobi kit for $500, so even average homeowner has better options. Maybe a handyman who needs a real compact setup, but buying a Kickstarter brand for something you rely on to earn your paycheck is sketchy.

Looking at the Kickstarter more, the $500 kit ($799 or whatever they claim full retail will be) only comes with 1x 2.0Ah battery and no AC converter.

If you really want to run that thing, you would have to spend a bit more. There’s no way any of those saws would run more than a few minutes on a 2.0 battery.

Curious to see what the AC adapter looks like for that thing, it has to be pretty beefy.

Other things to note from the video: the lathe and sander running off a wobbly drill chuck and a bunch of plastic supports look pretty much useless for anything besides basic hobby projects. And whenever they release it, they claim to have a 2 year warranty, but there is a whole lot of plastic crap to break in that kit, so they definitely need a replacement parts catalog.

Oh and pic related is the one I saw awhile back, pretty much the same thing minus the foam cutter. Looks like it was about the same pricing, somewhere between $500-$1000. The rating is fucking awful.

Maybe the new kickstarter learned from the problems with the old one? Or it’s the same people releasing it under another name because the old company folded when 75% of the buyers were trying to warranty the thing. Even if this thing was manufactured by Hilti and sold for $2000+, there are so many moving parts and something is bound to break in the first few months with any real use.

There’s no fucking way any of those tools are going to stay square when trying to make cuts.

Oh shit, I tried to Google it to see if it was the same guy, but I didn’t turn up much. Just saw pic related, so it obviously is the same Chinese crap with slight upgrades.

I had a feeling it could be the same people. That’s too funny. The Amazon reviews are terrible too, so many people bought that old setup and a couple months later tried to contact the company for warranties and got absolutely nothing.

There’s very little on Google considering how much money they raised and how popular this thing should be. Watch this one do the same exact thing: sell off the crowdfunding models, then sell off the rest from the shipping container currently sitting in China, then fold as soon as enough people want them to warranty shitty Chinese lithium batteries and a bunch of cutting tools that are consistently off by 5deg.

When you look at the CEL box, it’s obvious that it’s 100% Chinesium. But this Kickstarter lists that “Project Manager” as the head guy like he is some young American engineer who wants a cool power tool.

That is the only person they name on the Kickstarter as well, the name that sounds like a white American engineering student. They couldn’t use the other round-eye because his last name sounds kind of black.

I guarantee they wouldn’t have raised $50k this afternoon alone if they put Ling Xi’s name on there.

>>1702951
Now I see it on the other page. I didn’t need to read it to suspect it was reboot of the other $500+ machine from the company that mysteriously disappeared right around the time that all of their customers wanted replacement parts and warranty work.

>It sold to over 50,000 customers because it was so good, and this one is even better!

Aside from the obvious scam, the problem with the original one was that every included tool was the cheapest possible Chinesium $19.99 Harbor Freight shipping container special all blended into one.

So do the math, those shitty tools might have a 10% failure rate within the 90-day HF warranty. Now multiply that across 10 different functions on the box, plus two cheap ass Chinesium batteries, so let’s say 12 different things that have a 10% chance of failure with 90 days of moderate use... this means you have a <30% chance of every function still working properly after that time frame. Even with the cheapest manufacturing and sales processes, there’s no way the company could survive offering a 2-year warranty on the thing.

I’m curious what failure or warranty % a company like Hilti gets on each of their tools and batteries. There’s always a risk that the batteries will crap out early, so even with a 99% survival rate for each tool across the warranty period, the company is still going to be repairing or replacing >10% of them, and there’s no way that Chink QC is anywhere near that.

>>1703096
>>1703249
Forgot pic

The math doesn’t work any way. A 5% failure-warranty rate across any single tool over the 2 years means <60% of the boxes would survive. Even with the fine print written in Hebrew, the company would need to sell that thing for twice as much to cover their ass and survive for a few years.
