I want to paint this PC case with pastel pink.
I have never ever painted before. Which are the main steps for this?
>sand it
>that grey paint layer
>pink paint
Is that correct? I am sure this is a very simple project, but I don't want to fuck it up on a simple basic step. Also, recommend me a good pastel pink paint with a mate finish.
The case should come this week, but I will test and try to paint something similar meanwhile and I will report back my progress.

The short here is the more effort you put into this, the better it will come out. For surface prep, it depends on the substrate. In general, sand the finish off, clean the hell out of it with acetone, mask it excessively, prime with automotive primer, light sand, clean it, 2nd coat of primer, paint 2 or 3 very light coats.

Probably the best bet, not many choices in rattle can matte pastel pink

>that grey paint layer

that layer is called primer

Like the other anon says, prep.
It takes a lot of work to get a good paint job.

I suggest starting with something you don't care about and learning to paint on it before attempting to do a case.

Also remember, light coats not heavy, or you get runs.

Youtube has lots of how to paint a pc case vids to watch.

Alright buddy I can tell you are inexperienced. You need to listen to me.
The first thing for a good paint job is making sure your material is clean. Sand the metal really smooth. Use some windex to clean the plastics.
You may be tempted to buy a can of spray paint, but if you want it to look great and last more than a week, you are gonna need some premium paint
Go to your local hardware store and go go the paint desk. Those guys work the paint section all day. Ask for a mix of pink and clear primer. Tell him you want a shot of black in it too, that way he knows you're a pro. He will mix it up for you and send you on your way. It shouldn't be expensive either.
Painting technique is important too. Get some good quality brushes. Not the type your wife's son uses to paint watercolor. You want some real brushes. Made from the fine hairs of naked mole rats. The boys at the paint desk at home depot will sort you out. Tell em Taryl Dactel sent you.

Ask my gf. She wants a pink case no matter what, and the ones I could find being at stock are, well... Only the In Win 101 looks good, and that one is on Amazon.com and they don't ship here, and with a service of those to ship to my country, it would end costing a lot.

Quick report. I tested the paint and such on a spare case I have, so when the moment of truth comes, I will be ready.
It looks like I am not ready. I think I painted from too close. Also, the primer coat I made was shit and inconsistent, but since I was going to paint over it, I didn't bother much.
I will try to apply another layer or two, this time from more distance, and then the protective layer. I will try to paint the other panel too.

Wait, that wasn't actually a troll? I literally asked the guy at the paint shop about that "shot of black" thing, and he didn't ever even listen about that. I wanted to make sure.
Anyway, I will grab more paint cans on Monday, test again on the other panel and if it ends good, then finish the real case. Also, I will have some problems with the mesh, but I will use a nail or something really thin.

the advice i always hear is many light coats are better than fewer heavy coats.
i've never been any good at it, i guess because i only ever spray quite small things so further away seems such a waste of overspray.

Well, at least she will do half the work. I already got the case and disassembled it, now she will sand and primer it, I told her already how to. Then I will try to do thin layers like everyone said.
Also, I got a transparent mate protective paint, don't remember the name or it, and after I tried to apply some layers, it still was kinda dusty when I touched the panel. I guess I will have to sand it with a thin sand paper.
