What's the best way to turn a "pinching" motion into a rotation?

I'm building a potato launcher out of PVC pipe, and the pressure release valve is about 2 feet from the base of the canon. My vision is to attach a ReacherGrabber at the base, and use the trigger to rotate the valve handle 90 degrees.

Is there a simple/cheap way to achieve this?

Honestly man, I used to almost autisticly live potato guns as a hobby. What you're doing is a waste of time. Look up modified sprinkler valves or diaphragm valves and more complex would be piston valves. Piston need excellent diy skills, sprinkler valves need very little. No matter how fast you turn a ball valve, it's too slow. The potato will have exited before you have the valve even 1/10th open. So rule of thumb is a 1" Sprinkler will outperform even a huge ball valve. Sprinkler or diaphragm valves use air to almost instantaneously activate. Seriously man, not to toot my own horn but there are probably only 25 people alive with the same knowledge level on potato guns as I have. I won't say more as I want to remain anonymous but the fast actuation ball valve is a dead end, you're just as good opening by hand if you must go ball valve. Also make sure you're using pressure rated pipe and not cel core.

Dude sch 40 is fine, don't talk about shit you don't know about. If it's rated 280 don't go above 100. Also op's valve looks suspiciously like non pressure rated, but the pipe is fine.
